50 formation podcast. Sad Prescott is still What's up, ladies and gentlemen. I know we just apologize for our. for the Cowboys. That's all we can do. I've been sad, but then I'm a genuinely positive person, so I always try to find the good in this. And so the good in this is, I find so much more freedom throughout the week. Say we were good. Say we were 4-2 or 5-1, and we were playing the Eagles. I would have been so stressed out. I'd have been reading so many tweets, so many Cowboys boards, so much stuff getting ready for that Eagles game that my week would have been in shambles, especially if we would have lost. My week would have been an even worse shambles. But I went into that game expecting us to lose, didn't care. After the game, we lost just as I expected. I actually won some money betting against the Cowboys. So I actually feel something like my mind is free and my soul is unburdened. How you feel, I don't, I don't know. I'm, I'm not in that. I haven't given up on the team or anything. So like, I mean, that right there, what you just said, I argue with people all day long about like that. That's what I do. Cause I'm sick and tired of, of people just like, well, I'm just going to be a Houston Texans fan this year because I'm like, how can you just, how is your loyalty just so soft that you could just be like, oh, We're not so good this year. So I'm Yeah, see I I can understand that I'm still a diehard cowboy fan. I'm just not gonna let them hurt me anymore. No, no, I got you. I feel you I'm expecting I'm expecting failure this season. In fact, I welcome failure. I want them to lose every single game like Like to me the perfect the perfect season now would be be competitive in every game and lose But lose every game like I don't want to be a 47 to 9 game where they just whooped us in every facet of the game That's terrible to me But if we can still remain competitive which I don't see how but but I We'll I know sanity is it. I mean, I sat back the other day and I started thinking, like, I just started laughing about, like, all the situations. Like, I know we don't get too personal in here, but like, I mean, with the Cowboys, I mean, the season's over. This is, I mean, we're such a joke to the NFL and everybody's just shitting on us when they can, like every single second. It's like we walk in and we're like, where's somebody talking about me? That's exactly how it feels about everything. But not only the Cowboys, but like. I mean, politically, everything is crazy. And like, you know, the industry that I work in is crazy right now. And it's just like, every, everything is just swirling. And it used to be like, well, at least you could kind of just lay back and kind of watch the Cowboys or, you Yeah, so yeah, I don't even get the pleasure in like watching the games and stuff anymore Like what you said, I don't feel the this excitement building up like oh, yeah, it's game day Yeah, like it's it's Wednesday already night to be like when this week like that first time really thinking about When and It's not even like the fact that we're going to lose or if we're going to, you know, how we're going to lose or whatever. It's like all the everything that comes with it afterwards. Yeah, it's like all the trolls that get in. Oh, are you still them boys and like stuff like that? That's that's fine That's gonna come with sports, but then you're like, ah, you know what? I'm gonna turn the channel cuz I'm gonna you know I want to get away from this and all it is is it's Stephen a and then you got it there's somebody else is talking about the Cowboys and there's somebody else to talk about that then you turn the channel and it's somebody else's like Oh, man, I can't wait until Deion Sanders is the coach of the Cowboys. God damn it. You turn the channel and it's like somebody else's. It's like you're like, OK, look, it's it's a soap opera or something like, yeah, take my mind off of this. And then and then you get a little beep on your phone and it's like somebody is like Mike is on this podcast again talking about Mike McCarthy. I'm One thing I just hate about. Yeah, one thing I I hear about being a Cowboys fan is another team could be in the exact same situation as us or even in a worse situation But they don't get near like to me. It's a bigger story That the Jets are as terrible as they are to me. It is only because They don't have the amount of injuries that we have they don't have Now they do have a interim coach, but they don't have the amount of in I mean they still have Devante Adams and They have an all-star they have a pro there Rogers Breeze Hall Braylon Allen who I wish we had they still have everybody that they still have the to read and Sauce Gardner on defense they have well, they don't have And man, Hasan Reddick has started playing again, and they still have They have one of the best D linemen in the game. They have his brother playing linebacker right behind him. I mean, the whole squad, if you went down it, are really, really good. When that's a top five defense that offense is ridiculous and they have the best running back room in the world Yeah, and they suck and they like can't win and That is a bigger story than injury decimated cowboys playing bad this year. Like, I mean, if somebody would have said, Oh yeah, before mid season, you're going to be down the rush, a hobbled lamb, no Parsons, no bland, no DeMarcus Lawrence. Um, um, Martin is going to be hurt. Uh, uh, Your best running back is gonna be Zeke and he's gonna be like the 32nd running back in the NFL If you'd have told me all that I'd be like, yeah, that sounds about right. We should suck Now if we would suck and we had everybody available Like we had both offense and defense like we like the Jets do and we were terrible then it would be a bigger story but And and Michael Parsons and all that you know, I've been talking about the curtains since since it's been up I I can find tweets and things in the discord that we've talked about about the curtains for years and for it to only be coming up right now is hilarious like as we talked about even when When that's some of them that person tweeted that picture of CD that can't see the ball and then all of a sudden it's Mike McCarthy in the In the press conference and they got a shade up so that he doesn't get his eyes to, you know what I mean? It's like, where are our priorities right Taylor Swift gets the curtains, but we don't. I know like for the concerts when they get curtains, but we don't. So it's like at this point, it's like we're going back to the, to the show we did about three, four shows ago. Which coaches are we looking at No, it's, it's not even a, it's not even that though. It's not now players are talking about it. Yeah, right CD talked about it Debo on on that. I don't know if you saw Debo on his Today I heard about it, but I didn't watch it live. Yeah, I mean He said was he went back to that to the game last year when we know what it was That was the game where Dak? Didn't get the snap off right? What No, no, that was a nice year. We lost against uh, yeah, that was the year before Debo was talking about how there was a black hole everywhere that, that the balls were coming. Right. So he's like, when you're in that particular side of the field and the balls coming, you just put your hands up and you, you hope and you wish that the ball is going to hit your hands to catch it. Cause there's no, you're not going to see it at all. So what, I mean, this is like the third year of people complaining about it. Why is this an issue? Of course, Jerry has a very reasonable answer. And it's like, they know where the sun is at. It's a advantage He says, it's a team advantage because people don't want to come play against us and the sun, but it's us getting hurt by it. Jerry. Yeah. It's our players. And you are right about like the spotlight and stuff is like the Saints have lost four games in a row or I'm sorry Okay about to say because the Saints have lost like seven games in a row the Bucks have lost four games in a row the the Saints Have lost. Oh, no, they won this last week, but they they just won but they haven't won cuz I'm telling you I Because my brother is a huge Saints fan. So after they beat us, they had a little parade in front of the Cowboy Stadium. And so I told him as a joke, I'm like, you know what? Until y'all apologize for that, y'all not winning another game. And it just so happened, it worked, man. So they lost the next six games, and I just ran that curse back. So I sent him a text every Sunday morning before their game. I'm like, hey, if you send me a voice note saying you apologize for them throwing that parade, I'll let them win this week. And it almost worked this week because they barely won. I was man, I was riding that wave for six weeks. It But I mean, look at it. I mean, the Jets are three and seven Patriots are three and seven. Raiders are two and seven. Browns are two and seven. The Titans are two and seven. Jaguars are two and eight. But every single segment of every single show starts off with cowboys are in We're at where no our only good thing is we're we're at number 11 right now Which I think is where we got Michael Parsons when when are you talking about pick wise? Yeah pick wise. We're at number 11 and The PFF it's not right No, no. No, I was looking at I Don't even I think it's a lot lower than 11 right now because we're at 13 before we lost two We had to have dropped more than that because they they they just posted it this morning at 9 30 a.m. Our RJ Ochoa This week through three and six and while there's a long way to go before this is locked and finalized based on the current late NFL they would hold the 11th overall pick so we would have 11 we have one two, three five six and seven because we gave up our fourth for Go Two three we are and we're also going to receive four compensatory We just don't know where yet five six seven eight A lot of teams that have a worse records of us Nine, I I thought we were like in in in We're not as That's sort of I But I mean But just because there's a lot of teams that have only won two games, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. That means that the jets and the Patriots are picking before us. I wonder why. Anyways, I mean it it is what it is Everybody is like I'll throw Lance in again You know, we want to win this game and I'm like guys know every time we win we get a worse pick I'm telling you where we're like, we're good enough to win I mean, we're happy enough to win on fantasy and just get us through The week maybe you're fine with us losing every single game the And your college team, your college team this last week. Oh my God. I told everybody, I was like, LSU is going to win. LSU is I was so sure they were. Alabama just has He's like, all of a sudden he, he didn't have that limp wristed left handed throw. Like it's just, he Did you I did not watch that game I was mad I was following it because I was out we had our like in our family we have a like a fall Day with the with the nieces and the nephews and they come and they paint pumpkins and crap. I And so that was this Saturday. So we did that. That would have been that day where they've been like, where's Eddie? He's in And it was, I was, I was checking the, the, the game cast the whole time. And at a certain point I was like, yup, this game's over. So let me, uh, watch these kids play UNO. There you go. So we had a, we had a very spirited game of UNO. The, the. The rules of UNO, in case anybody's wondering, is whatever you can convince everybody else the rules are. Whatever you can convince everybody else the rules are, that's what the rules are at UNO. I was like, they should add UNO to casinos, but then I was like, man, the murder rate is I think they had it in the Vegas vacation. Do you remember the one that goes to the weird ass, like the local one, and it's like, Rock, paper, scissors, and I get Uno and guess, guess the number, guess You'll never hear adults curse as much as when somebody says Uno out, you're like, ah, same thing as if you go to bingo and some old lady says bingo, you would, man, all you hear is F My family, you know, pay, uh, Uh, you know, you're somebody's always going to get picked on. And it's always like one young kid that just getting picked on. He's getting all the reverses and all the everything. I can't even hold like a man and everybody around him has a reverse card and everything. And we're just looking at learn, Hey, you walked into the jungle, baby, this uno junk. But listen, this is how real world works. This this tweet that came out today by Calvin Watkins, I posted in the podcast today and it kind of raised some eyebrows about Injuries this It seemed like everybody was on there I thought when I started reading it it was just reading like names and names and names and I thought he was just reading off like he was maybe saying guys that We're gonna do something next year, you know something. I don't know but also like these are the names Tyler Smith Deron Bland, Eric Kendricks, Hunter Lukey, Dak Prescott, Nick Vigil, Kaylin Carson, Zach Martin, Trevon Diggs, Jordan Lewis, all not practicing today. All not, excuse me? It's Wednesday. I know we play on Monday, but why is everybody, why are we giving half the team the day off? Or are they really all hurt? We Carson man, I still remember I was watching the Eagles game. So in the beginning they were trying to go even both sides but of course Dig showed up even got the interception in zone after that. I count it. I think the next six to seven passes is Went to whoever Carson was holding. It didn't matter because they would switch like he would move sides or he would switch players. But whoever he was guarding, they went straight after him every They didn't have a basketball game. So do you miss the beginning of Miss wait, I missed the the end of the game because I had a basketball game But in the beginning of the game, they were going after Carson too. They're giving him the Anthony Barron treatment right away Yeah, they They were going to both sides They were going to digs and Carson but Diggs was holding his own and then he got the interception in zone after that interception in zone They stopped throwing at anybody Diggs's garden. They were stolen at whoever Carson was garden every single time it was Get Like I don't know if he needs to line up a couple yards deeper or something because he's getting beat every single time I won't everything all you're seeing is him playing catch-up and even though they made it He made that hell of a play because the ball bounced off of his head and he didn't get a yeah So it wasn't even like he made the play The throw made him made to play I And there was another one where what was face the hundred and eleven pound receiver that Eagles have The Vontae Smith Yeah when he when he came back on the first one that they threw and he would really under through and like he had to stop and like run backwards underneath Carson the catcher and the ball way back there Oh But you know what I stand tough and carry a big, big hammer. I see. Overshawn, man. DeMarvian Overshawn. That dude was all over the field. And he was the only one that seemed to be like, well, you know, Parson still did his thing. He, but he did it in a professional way. DeMarvian Overshawn acted like he was the best player on the Pee Wee Football League, just wreaking havoc. And He he looked like okay, you just nailed that what I thought of was the coach's son playing second base That you're right is going to catch everything right? That's all he was doing. He was he he was he wasn't playing D for he wasn't playing Defense he was trying wasn't plays he was doing he was doing he was like playing the opposite of what we've been playing defense all year and I was like plays and I mean if you I think that we should take Kendrick's out. Kendrick's is done, man. Kendrick's needs to take a seat and be. I don't care if we play vigil. I don't care if we pick somebody off So, yeah, I mean, I can pull up the link and we can review this play. But you saw them when the it was on the it was where the Eagles had the ball in like the twenty thirty ish. Swing and he caught the ball. It was who was it? They're running, but he goes running back Barkley Barkley catches that swing turns around and Kendrick's has his in his side. Oh my god He's like, oh I got you motherfucker. Like he's there In there like he didn't even move and then over Sean came in and said boy He's like he came in so fast he No, but he was already best like Barker's already past the plant Yeah, he was already making another move on somebody else five yards down the field Our running backs are run our linebackers are running into each other late. This is a crazy talk man. This is it. I There's no locker room anymore. I mean, the coaches have lost the locker room. You saw what Mike has said about McCarthy. He's like, just basically calling. He's like, what Yeah, he's out of here. You can tell. And players know when a coach is invested in a team, like coaches checked out, players will check out. I've been on plenty of, man, I've been playing sports since I was nine years old. I'm 42 now. Players know when the coach is not kind of like the Mighty Ducks movie, the very first one, when he first started. Or Hardball, when he first took over the team. Players Don't even get me into Hardball, bro. You don't need to talk about Hardball. I'm I know, man. I can't believe it. That's a great movie. I can't believe they did G baby like that rip G baby Seriously, man, Apollo Apollo Creed son. He got G baby killed. Oh, I guess a punk anyway, but yeah, but Coaches are checked out and that's why you'd be like why is this great coach this team playing so terrible for him because they know That's when they, usually the year before they get rid of a coach, cause it's like, they're just tuning them We all do it. I mean, we all did it. We talked about it with like the, the, uh, two week notice. I mean, this month is on his like 11th day of the two week notice. Right now he's wearing he's wearing shorts to work and he's got a Hawaiian shirt. He's got headphones on and they're asking him like, why do you take a phone? You take a two hour lunch and he's like, oh, I'm sorry, my bad. What He reminds me of Stanley on the on the office right now like he don't give a fuck and he's in the meeting He's like doing this crossword and he's like what it's like to not stutter I've always I've always been professional when I put in two weeks, so I've never done it only because that's who I am but like I can't say like say I won the lottery and And I'm like, I know I won the lottery and I'm waiting for the money to hit my bank account before I quit. Cause that's how I, how I'm going to be. Cause I've read stories about people who won the lottery and something happened to where the ticket was messed up. So they thought they won and they didn't and lottery avoided the tickets. So I've seen that. So I always said if I ever did, I would, I wouldn't. quit until the money was in my account. I wouldn't quit when I had the winning ticket. If I scanned and it said you're a winner and I see the numbers match up, I still wouldn't quit until the money is in my account. I would still have those days where I know I'm a millionaire, but technically I'm not a millionaire because I don't have the money. Those days, it would be very hard for me to be professional at work. The first time somebody say anything to me that who I don't like, it's on and popping. I I've given my two weeks, maybe like three times in my life. And the last time I did like, but I gave my two weeks and then my, my director and my boss were in there and I was pretty good friends with them and they both just kind of chuckled. And they're like, so today's going to be your last day. Right. And I'm like, what do you mean? They're like, no, you know, he's like, we know, we know you're not going to be doing nothing for the next two weeks. So, so I mean, there's, there are situations where. Yeah, Jay probably I don't know why you're having on to this and he's saying that and And he already said that no matter what happens. He's not gonna fire McCarty midseason He said every time he's fired a coach midseason. He's regretted it and I'm like, we're not even by every time in these games Every time he's done that one time, right? Who was it? Nah, he fired Wade. Nah, nah, nah. He fired. Um, Was it, was it, was it Wade Phillips who went and, um, um, was, uh, the clapper took over for Wade Phillips. Yeah. I think that was because Wade took over for, uh, the dude, we got the coach from Oklahoma. Uh, what's the name? The guy that coached Troy. Hey, Oh, yeah, very Switzer Yeah, and so Switzer and It could have been who was the No Rex, but Rex Campo Rex Rex Ryan He was a defensive coordinator. I Dave Campbell You might have been Dave Campo if I'm but I remember him going three He had three consecutive like five and I'm 11 seasons. Yeah, I remember that cuz cuz um Cuz Garrett had three consecutive Do you like but three consecutive? Twelve and five seasons and you've gone to the playoffs three years in a row I'm not resigning you this year Yeah, no, you're going to be a lame duck and I'm not going to resign any players for you. I'm not going to go after free agents. I don't know what you're after. We're not going to draft anybody. And I'm going to I'm not going to resign DAC either or CD till the very beginning of Last second. That to where we can't use the money they freed up signing them to get any quality free agents and I'm going to keep telling them how I'm trying to do the best that I What I need to find out is I wonder how much did Will McClay had a say in three, three things. One was the, the, uh, trade Lance trade. Second was the mingo trade. And third is re-signing Zeke. I wonder how much he hadn't. I don't seem like, I don't think he really has those seem like Jerry moves. Like we're going to do this because I'm the Well, I think if we if we do breadcrumbs back a little bit Zeke had a six million dollar Dead cap. So the Zeke situation is a little bit different. We had to sign a running back Whatever running back we signed you we had to add Zeke six million dollars on to so that we were gonna sign So we had to buy somebody nine million Yeah, we're gonna sign anybody for seven million and when Zeke showed up and said I'll take three million plus is six then okay Yeah, that's why we couldn't get Derek Henry does I'll be couldn't get Barclays. Oh, you should have just signed them. We didn't have it. Because we hadn't signed DAC yet. We hadn't signed LAM yet. We didn't have the cap space to do it. So we had to go cheap. And that's why everybody's like, and that's where his mistake was at. He had the opportunity to sign DAC early. He had the opportunity to sign LAM early. Before, all these people signed, like, there were like four or five quarterbacks signed before DAC. Four or five wide receivers signed before LAM. We could have Didn't we redo steals? Contract like he they already made him. Yeah mid offseason. We restructured somebody's Contract was exact somebody's we restructured their contract this year still Yeah, he was the only one who had money like that. So he did feel Yeah, I know, but we restructure steel for no reason. Like we, we put money in That's and they, that is like one of those things that our front office believes is a ace in the hole restructuring. They're like, Hey, they set up all their contracts to be restructured all the time. So it's something they do. But anyway, we'll see. So right now we're going through the coaches search. As long as we don't get Dion, we don't need Dion. If we can get Hunter, I'll be happy. What I really wish we can do is trade, um, trick somebody into getting Martin. Maybe steal for a first round pick. If we can find somebody dumb enough, less dumb enough, like, um, that like, like Jerry and trade a I saw, I saw an article today that was begging for Yeah. He's been hurt all year, but he's a warrior, man. He's going to play. Yeah. And Another to an NFC team that and he's gonna play off like one or two more years and that was and that's it And we shut him down Resign him in the offseason. Let him fucking go out on the throne with Dallas and we probably won't Yep, they won't and So we'll see that that's a smart move So that's how I know it won't get done. That's a smart move. I Oh So, you know, we got three games in 11 days, three Oh man, that's terrible. And we're already beat to hell. So, um, I don't think Houston is going to pull us out. Will Greer warm up. Yeah, cuz Houston has already regressed a lot. So they won't blow us out like the Eagles did it'll probably be like a 24 to 17 win something like that but but Cooper Rush will be a lot better because now he's taking all the reps and So and so he's getting a little bit better. I think Dowdle is gonna be a little bit better He's somebody that they need to Yeah, they they need to resign him now And I think whoever the next coach is gonna be is gonna be happy that we resign him cheap because he's a good running back And he's been healthy all year. Yeah, he's always You know what the big news was today? What's going to change things is we just opened up Chuma Odoga's 21-day window. Oh, that's it. That's it. We're going to bring him back and play left tackle in our own running game. It's just going to skyrocket. We're just going to take over and run down the throats of everyone. Rush is going to throw 10 passes a game because we're going to be averaging 10 yards a carry. We're not mathematically out of it yet. I know. I hate that. I wish, I wish that this game, if we losing this Houston, we're mathematically living it like that would ease so much burden from this team to see those words. Cowboys eliminated from playoff contention. But it would it would give us a sense of That was the last time where by Thanksgiving we were done and that was when Roma was hurt that was right before we got Zeke and that I think we ended up being 5 and 12 or 4 and 20 20 20 20 was when DECA hurt, right? Yeah, but but um, he was doing Yeah, yeah, and it Dalton was still keeping us in games 2015 was when we had Matt Castle, the dying, decaying corpse of Matt Castle was out there trying to win games for us. We had a little hope with Andy Dalton, but back then we had no hope and that's what we have right now. And I'm all for it. I'm telling you, it's allowed me to find myself. I'm It's funny. That's a sad girl. We're just gonna need to get through these weeks. That's all it is I know What's that is like we got to get through this and then you got to get through a whole six months of offseason right like as long as the Eagles don't win and the That you can see where it's not man. I cannot believe that man like that team is so beatable art. They are It was 14 to 6 at halftime like we were in the game. There was like like that sucked all the life out of us and then and then we intercept the ball and don't do anything with it yeah, and then we go down and we we don't kick the we don't kick the field goal like it's just Frustrating. Frustrating.
