Intro 00:00:00 I come. Here we go. Here I come. Here we go, here I come. Here we go. Yeah, yeah. Cooper blue and I fought through a lot. Do not like us. How you're walking with a lion. Got me feeling like.
Prescott 00:00:14 Here we go, here we go. Victory Formation podcast. Be back in this thing. We took a little hiatus. Eddie. Yeah. Glad to be back.
Eddie 00:00:23 Oh, yeah. I'm ready. How are you guys out there? We missed you. Did you guys miss us?
Prescott 00:00:29 We are back at it. I know y'all missed us. You ain't got to say it because we already know you. You already know you did so. So you don't even gotta say it.
Eddie 00:00:37 You only got so much to talk about, though. If we if we, talked about everything that's happened in the last couple of weeks, it would we'd be on here for our podcast. We talked about everything that happened today, man. It'd be like, man, it's crazy.
Eddie 00:00:50 Yeah, it was wonderful. We had a big day today.
Prescott 00:00:53 So we got a few. We got a few things that that we want to talk about. so, let's start off with some, some, some, some hot news. We can get to the combine and stuff later. Let's talk with some hot news.
Eddie 00:01:04 Bad news?
Prescott 00:01:05 What you got for us? You are. You are Cowboys insider. You got a spy in the locker room. What's going on?
Eddie 00:01:10 Well, we we all thought that, today was the deadline we heard about from that they were going to either they're going to, put, OSA on that tag or they're going to sign them and everything pointed to us tagging him. Right.
Prescott 00:01:26 Because no one, our team, no one, our team. Yeah.
Eddie 00:01:29 I mean, yeah, historical data would have shown that Jerry would have drug his feet on this and everything, but, man, what was it was like 3:00 today that we got the news. Oh, so signed that that extension four years is a four years, 88.
Prescott 00:01:43 Four years, 81 million. Here we go.
Eddie 00:01:46 Here we go, here we go. Hey. And that that saved us quite a bit of money from the tag. Like the tag would have been around 25, 26 million when it all, when it all came out. So.
Prescott 00:01:57 And that would have all went to to the cap too. So yeah.
Eddie 00:02:03 That's what I was going to say is like that now that he signed, I think they can push a lot of that to bonus.
Prescott 00:02:08 And oh yeah, even they'll probably get that number down, like when they can get it somewhere between like ten and 15 million to count towards the cap.
Eddie 00:02:16 So we're good that for they just did that for. Right. And then right after that ten 15 minutes later news CD restructures CD.
Prescott 00:02:25 Restructured.
Eddie 00:02:26 CD restructured, saved US 20 million towards the cap this year.
Prescott 00:02:29 The good thing is, it's not that when they made his contract, they factored that in already. They knew they were going to restructure it.
Prescott 00:02:37 So when they so when they did it. So the one thing I'm glad about is that CD is not a almost in his career guy. Like I can foresee him playing out that contract and being effective throughout the whole contract to where we're not like, man, he's like the Marion Barber contract killed this one like he was good for one year.
Eddie 00:02:59 Back in the day when I was assigned people we had extended for like six years.
Prescott 00:03:02 Yeah, exactly.
Eddie 00:03:03 And you're like the. And then the last two years had the majority of their money and and we're like dead cap.
Prescott 00:03:08 That dead cap number. Oh, man. It's up to you. We used to be like.
Eddie 00:03:13 Old Eddie DeBartolo 49 ers.
Prescott 00:03:17 I always use as much as I love them. Rest in peace. I always use Marion Barber as the poster child for this. Had a great season. I mean it wasn't you know like it wasn't like he was the best running back in the league. He had a good season for him and they signed him to a ridiculously long, expensive contract.
Prescott 00:03:35 He only ended up playing one year, and he had so much dead money because we had to release him right after he was, he was he just he was washed by then. And it's like we've had PTSD since then, and I'm like, I don't want any more contracts like that. So unless you're going to do what you signed, somebody who, you know, going to be here at least at least 2 or 3 years. Well, and.
Eddie 00:03:56 We got I kind of got smart with it too, because we put, verbiage in, like with Steele's, extension.
Prescott 00:04:02 Yeah. Yeah.
Eddie 00:04:03 I mean, we have he was really under contract for only two years because this year we can replace him and next year we can. Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're releasing this year.
Prescott 00:04:11 This year? Yeah, I'm pretty sure. So the numbers I've been seeing is we can get up close to $90 million in cap relief. So there's a new there's a new cap. I think it's what, 227 million you remember?
Eddie 00:04:23 277 to.
Prescott 00:04:25 270. Hold on. I can tell you right now. Hold on. That's all I know. Salary cap, NFL 2025 seasons.
Eddie 00:04:35 Like pretty significantly.
Prescott 00:04:37 It's 279 million. So it went up a lot. And so we we saved 90 I mean close to 90 with these moves. We haven't done them all yet. But these are the moves. The first thing they did was sign OSA that that was one. The second thing they did was restructure CeeDee lamb. That was too. They can restructure Dak, which they will because they built that into and then they can release steel a June a post June 1st cut and that will get us close to 90 million in cap savings.
Eddie 00:05:13 You know what a another thing that I read that that I keep seeing is a lot of people are like, oh, where is this, all in kind of mentality that we have a if you looked on our roster, a lot of the free agents, it's crazy. It's like 17, 18 players that actually played significant roles on our team that are going to be a free agent.
Prescott 00:05:35 Our free agent list is ridiculous.
Eddie 00:05:37 And a lot of people, you know, back months ago, they were like, how are you going to resign all your team? You're kidding. You're not going to have anybody. But now, looking at what Steven said with the, what is it aggressive or the selectively aggressiveness.
Prescott 00:05:56 Yes. selective aggressiveness sounds like a a new era of WWE selective aggressiveness, like.
Eddie 00:06:04 with, Cena being a heel, but, yeah, man, the the fact that it is, is we're going to have a lot of turnover. it looks like they're going to let a lot of these guys kind of walk and, and we're going to replace them and spend money this year because. Yeah, I mean, it's just like there's no backup receivers. I mean, there's a few nothing like the big ones that made that played aren't going to be there. there's the the linemen are gone. defensive linemen are going to be gone. There's going to be no safeties, basically, like our corners that spent like a Jordan Lewis.
Eddie 00:06:42 Are we going to resign him or are we not? Are we going to.
Prescott 00:06:44 Do I did see I did see a thing where they got, they want to bring back anger and Sieg the punter and and, long snapper. They put a tender on Turpin.
Eddie 00:06:56 They put a second round tender on Turpin.
Prescott 00:06:58 So yeah on Turpin.
Eddie 00:06:59 Anybody signs him. Then we get a second.
Prescott 00:07:02 Nobody's going to sign him for a second rounder. Yeah.
Eddie 00:07:04 You know what I'm talking about. Like. Yeah. They need to give us something or so.
Prescott 00:07:09 He's valuable, but he's not second round valuable.
Eddie 00:07:12 He's a he's the best punt returner in the game right now.
Prescott 00:07:15 He's the best. He's he's the best returner in the league I mean so so so he's not nothing. So he's not nothing. But he's not second rounder.
Eddie 00:07:25 I think you.
Prescott 00:07:25 Know person.
Eddie 00:07:27 I don't think I think that we I don't think they overvalued him. Not especially with him being able to play receiver too. So I think second rounder you don't find speed like that.
Eddie 00:07:42 It's just the size that that is weighing him down. So I, I don't know.
Prescott 00:07:46 Well and then I mean and then he did pretty good when they put him in the spot duty, you know like running back or when they, you know, give him the little screens or whatever. Hee hee hee contributed. So it wasn't like he was Devin Hester, where he was only a returner because they tried hard to make Devin Hester receiver. It just didn't work out. But he was the best return in the league as.
Eddie 00:08:07 Far back in college. In high school that's what you try to put him.
Prescott 00:08:10 Then he swapped and then they tried to make him a receiver. He just couldn't do it. But they couldn't get rid of him because the value he brought as a returner. But to me, Turpin is that level of returner. And he can actually do stuff once he has the ball in his hand on an offense, so I wouldn't mind bringing him back at all.
Eddie 00:08:29 I think the next, domino to fall is going to be the Micah extension.
Eddie 00:08:33 Micah Parsons.
Prescott 00:08:34 Already we got they already.
Eddie 00:08:36 Started talking and I think. Yeah, but by these, I mean opening up money and and getting this done. And I think that's what's going to. It's either going to be Dak restructure or Mike is going to be extended. Those are going to hopefully. So we talked about this.
Prescott 00:08:50 We the only the only reason we're going to see a bunch of signings because we have to sign people. We have so many free agents, we have to sign people. So it's not like, oh, they have a year. We're extending these people. No, they're it's like like you said, 17 or 18 people. Their contract is done. Like they don't have a team. They're not on the team. So we have to sign people. We don't have a choice.
Eddie 00:09:14 And, you know, we we didn't even have a chance to I think we should touch base on this a little bit was, it's almost like, our coaching staff, right? We couldn't dilly dally and wait until we could sign a coach here and there.
Eddie 00:09:31 We, we had to get it done quickly. We had to. And they did it because, you know, we.
Prescott 00:09:35 Because they have senior bowls in the combine. Like you can't get let let all that go by and then hire. No coach is going to take that job if they missed all that stuff. So they had to hire somebody quick. It's just the nature of the game. So like they were forced to hire people, which I'm glad because I'm shocked they signed OSA. I'm shocked. There's like in this deeper talks with normally Jerry will be giving us the well you know, we will reach out, you know, deadlines, make deals or whatever crappy job that you're getting everything.
Eddie 00:10:05 He's canceled his his he usually has that that Senior Bowl or where he talks about. And he has his boss behind him. Yeah. They canceled it on him. So I think his priorities are a little bit different this year. So tell me. Yeah tell me what you think about the the coaching staff that we brought in.
Eddie 00:10:25 No I don't give you. So.
Prescott 00:10:27 So it's like I started off low when they, when they hired Schottenheimer, I started off low. I was like, what in the world? Like like, you know, normally when they hire someone who doesn't have that much experience, it's because he's the hot coach. Kind of like the Ben Johnson or the Slovak was a hot coach, but he fell off. But but anyway, like kind of like that. There was no hype from what I heard. Nobody even had like interviewed Schottenheimer. So I was at a low point. I was like, man, what are we doing? But then when he started making his hires for DC OC offensive line, like, the more, you know, being in the discord, y'all telling me about these people. So I dug into him and I'm like, he is really putting together an impressive coaching staff. So then my like, little by little, you know, like the little thing when you're making money, it goes up and up and up.
Eddie 00:11:19 Was that the.
Prescott 00:11:20 That's how I was.
Eddie 00:11:22 What's that game show that we all watch when we were younger? price is right. Yeah, the price is right. So.
Prescott 00:11:28 Yeah. So by the time he finished his staff, I was. I was totally fine with it. I listened to some people who I trust, you know, like the broadcasters and the watches and all of those. And. And by the time they were done, I was like, you know what? I'm feeling this. I'm feeling this coaching squad. What do you think?
Eddie 00:11:45 I think that I think that sometimes when your mom went to the store when she had, like 20 bucks left. She came home with some balm. Dinner. Right, man. And it was like, how it works.
Prescott 00:12:01 Yeah.
Eddie 00:12:02 So I think, like the ingredients, we had some ingredients in, in the pantry that, you know, we hadn't used in a little bit. And for, for some reason, Schottenheimer has not come up on a lot of people's radar as a head coach.
Eddie 00:12:17 She's been an offensive coordinator. He's been he's been a coach for like 26 years or something like that, right?
Prescott 00:12:23 Yeah. And he's been in the league. It's not like it's not like he's he's Jeff Saturday and they just hired him out of nowhere.
Eddie 00:12:28 But but the thing about it is like he has NFL blood. Like his dad was an NFL coach. It's been best. And he's been an assistant for such a long time. It just hasn't gotten his shot. I think every time there's it's like the door just closes behind him and he's just moved on to be like a coordinator or a quarterbacks coach because he was ready. And In Seattle. He was ready.
Prescott 00:12:54 Yeah. After he revived, Russell Wilson's career. Like a lot of people don't realize, he was the the the when the year Russell Wilson almost won the MVP. He was the guy behind it. He was the reason why he smoked.
Eddie 00:13:07 And Russell talked shit about him about it and said that he was trying to take a lot of his game away and say that he wanted to run the ball.
Eddie 00:13:14 But anyways, I mean, that that's all here. Hearsay.
Prescott 00:13:18 That's that's the reason why you don't hear a lot of Russell Wilson to the Cowboys as a backup because they, they they don't like each other. I don't think Russell Wilson likes him because he likes to run the ball. And Russell Wilson wants the ball in his hands to pass. And so.
Eddie 00:13:33 Oh well it's all about who you have on the team too at the time. Exactly. It could be. It could have been like you know, Seattle had like our team last year where he just didn't have the ability to run even though you wanted to. He just.
Prescott 00:13:46 Didn't. Yeah. You want it to you just just good.
Eddie 00:13:49 So my my whole whole thought process on this, this coaching staff is we ended up with one of, I believe, one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL right now. one of the youngest and brightest. You know, we didn't get a Ben Johnson. We didn't get, you know, the the dq's of the world with, with all the coordinators and everything.
Eddie 00:14:12 We we it looks like we handpicked how the best coaches that will all have kind of the same mentality. The offensive coordinator that we sign the the line. The offensive line coach from the Cardinals.
Prescott 00:14:30 Yeah the Cardinals.
Eddie 00:14:31 He like he was.
Prescott 00:14:33 He's really.
Eddie 00:14:33 Lost like 3 or 4 years. He's been in talks of people trying to interview him here and there. And the Cardinals have actually spent a lot of money to keep him every year. And even this year they were pretty pissed off that he left. Yeah. And then, the the offensive line coach that we got, that was the offensive coordinator for Kansas State. If you follow his coaching career and not just what he's been able to do, he's he's actually changed a lot of how how, running backs and linemen, work together and attack the field in the. So he's going to be coming with a lot of good ideas working with our offensive coordinator. It's going to be ridiculous.
Prescott 00:15:13 Yeah, I like it. One thing I like about the staff is I feel like everyone they hired has something to prove because they've been doubted.
Prescott 00:15:22 You know, like people not looking at them like they should be, except the guy from from the Cardinals. He was he was kind of in and even even at him.
Eddie 00:15:29 Even him. Like it wasn't he wasn't Ben Johnson. He wasn't he wasn't slow. He wasn't one of the top. Like, this guy is the next guy that's going to change the NFL. No. Yeah. And and as you can see like slow it fell off in one year one.
Prescott 00:15:45 Did like man I think they didn't. Then they release him like let him go I don't know if I think they let them go, but, yeah, it's like they.
Eddie 00:15:54 Let him go and he's not on a team right now because that doesn't. That's really crazy, man.
Prescott 00:15:58 I'm almost positive. I saw something about they let they let me see. Yeah.
Eddie 00:16:03 So so let me let me just finish up just a little bit. I got a little bit left. The crazy thing about this is, and, is that I, I personally have connection to two cowboy coaches.
Eddie 00:16:16 Like. It's just weird. Junior Adams, the, the new, wide receiver coach and the passing game coordinator. He's coming from Oregon, where he was the office of coordinator. Oregon. But I played against him in high school, and he was amazing. But what he's been able to do in college, if you look at the receivers that he's had under his like he helped create Cooper Kupp. Yeah he helped create like all these receivers that are changing the game right now. He had a hand in it. He's Is so amazingly smart. What what, what our coaches have said, why they brought him in was he's able to he's able to explain to a player what he wants them to do and in and and just like relate to to how they're learning is what I've heard, like he did. It's not magic. He's not coming. He doesn't have this, you know, idiot's Guide to Football that nobody else has. He just has a way of being able to communicate with these guys and a good coach teach them.
Eddie 00:17:22 And that hasn't been in the NFL yet. You know, he's coming from college. the other coach that I have a connection with, it's kind of crazy that we signed him to was, our, our new quarterbacks coach. I don't know what they're naming him. Right. But he's coming from being fired from, the Browns. What's his name?
Prescott 00:17:44 Stefanski?
Eddie 00:17:45 No. No, no, who? I'm talking about how we signed. What's his name?
Prescott 00:17:49 Oh, the. Oh, I know you're talking about. I just don't know his name. Hold on.
Eddie 00:17:53 Oh, that's stupid though, because I. That's funny because I played with him in high school. And so that the connection between these two coaches is insane, that I know them and that they're, they're actually going to be interacting with the players on the sideline that that we all sit and watch every day. It's crazy. Our our defensive side.
Prescott 00:18:15 Oh man, I love it. Like I was a big I wanted him to be our defensive coordinator when he didn't when when he moved to the to the to the, Colts.
Prescott 00:18:27 No no, no. When he moved to the Colts because he was our linebackers coach and they brought in Dan Quinn, which I wasn't that upset because when they brought in Dan Quinn, but I thought they were going to let him be the line, I mean the defensive coordinator. But he went up there. He's a very good defense. Like very good. Not average or kind of good. He's a very good defensive coordinator.
Eddie 00:18:48 And I think that he's going to be able to to game plan. Like I think Zimmer was just he was in some tough shoes to be able to feel.
Prescott 00:18:57 Like he was.
Eddie 00:18:58 It was just chaotic and there wasn't no money was spent. It was just like, hey, you need to figure out what you need to figure out with what we got and how.
Prescott 00:19:07 And then, yeah, he never got a chance to get I mean, he got Kendricks, but that was it. Like he never got a chance to get his guys. He had to play. He had to play with someone else's guy.
Prescott 00:19:16 Yeah. Hey, Slowik went to the Dolphins. The Texans did fire him. They they fired him after the playoffs. And now he's the passing game coordinator for the Dolphins. It's crazy. Yeah.
Eddie 00:19:27 Like wow. The the way that, things can change when your quarterback gets hurt and your running back and hurt. Right. All right. So and you're and you're so.
Prescott 00:19:39 Yeah. So so so how happy should our new coaching staff be about this combine. Did you see any gems when you were watching it. Oh I don't know. Eddie's our. It's our residential college guru. I don't know anything about college football. I watch it, I follow LSU, but I. But I don't follow like players across the league. I follow people that are in my orbit. If they're not in my orbit, then I don't know. So I trust him until he's about.
Eddie 00:20:06 To be changed. Is the is FDF and the fact that they were compiling all these stats of call it because it wasn't like that before.
Eddie 00:20:17 Like you really had to it wasn't out to be able to kind of get your hands on a lot of stuff. So when PFF and FN and all these, these companies got together and started, you know, mass producing all this data for everybody, it was it was it was eye opening. Not a lot of people like to do it. Some people just like the game. Right. But to me it's more of a game, you know, it's like chess. Like there is a there is a strategic advantage to, to knowing other things here and there. The the combine. I think to be honest with you, I think the combine has changed a lot. I don't think the combine is as important as it used to be. Yeah, it's not because their pro days didn't used to exist as much as they do now.
Prescott 00:21:02 Only super duper stars used to have pro days now.
Eddie 00:21:05 But if there was an issue, if somebody was hurt, that's when they had a debate. And it was like a a team had to.
Eddie 00:21:11 Oh yeah. I guess we'll go and see you because we really like you. But nowadays, I mean almost now the whole NFL's at each pro day, even if you're not going to get a chance to to draft him because he's throwing all the receivers that you don't get to see, you know he's you know.
Prescott 00:21:25 That's players like players agents like pro days better because they can control control the situation more. Yeah getting thrown as opposed to going to the.
Eddie 00:21:34 Combine or you're getting thrown to you by your quarterback that you've been thrown to for years. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. You're also at home. You're comfortable. Your fans are in the stands if you want. You're in an environment. You got to sleep in your bed last night. I mean, it's it's all different and the environment's a lot different. So a lot of players nowadays will choose to like this year. Do you have you didn't do anything at the combine. He just showed up and he did. Yeah. He didn't he didn't do anything.
Prescott 00:22:01 It was a couple of big names like yeah I'm not going to the combine. I'm good.
Eddie 00:22:04 Some some guys really like can't can really hurt their their chances. I think that's the, the thing is that they need to you need to weigh out what's the value of this because I you know the the there was a tight end who was the tight end this year. He was trying to run his 40 and he he falls started. And as he was slowing down, he sprained his ankle.
Prescott 00:22:31 Yeah, I saw that.
Eddie 00:22:33 He couldn't he couldn't run.
Prescott 00:22:34 So the picture of his ankle, it was it was gnarly. Yeah.
Eddie 00:22:37 So, so I mean little things like that happen all the time. The Ohio State quarterback. Good lord. Did you see him? he.
Prescott 00:22:44 Was so bad. Like, oh my.
Eddie 00:22:45 God, bad bro. though, like I shouldn't have done anything because I guarantee you, if he goes into his pro day with the receivers that he knows he's going to light it up.
Prescott 00:22:55 And back in the day, it used to help people. I still remember like the gold standard of making money in the combine was Vernon Gholston. I don't know if you remember that guy he used to play for Ohio State ended up going to the Jets. He was like he was he was like middling alright, but he had such a good combine. He vaulted into the top five and he was a bust from the go.
Eddie 00:23:17 If you remember, just even just a couple years ago when like KD was pretty good in college, KD was he was a master of of yards after contact because that's what he was, right. He was a he was a tweener and he was on he was on the cusp of being, first or second round draft pick. Yep. And then he went to the combine and he made that one catch where he jumped. Yeah. He jumped. He made it catch up and got a belt.
Prescott 00:23:47 And twisted around. Yeah, I remember that.
Eddie 00:23:49 He, like, did a somersault and shit, and he bounced right back up and everybody was like, oh shit like that.
Eddie 00:23:56 That athleticism right there is not. You can not I will.
Prescott 00:23:59 I will.
Prescott 00:24:00 Always remember that draft only because I'm part of a dynasty league. And we decided, hey, y'all want to do like a group chat and watch the first round of the draft? I'm like, yeah, I've never done that before. And it was the city draft. CeeDee lamb draft. So once it got to who was it the Raiders that took Ruggs. Yeah. And I was like, wait a minute. Yeah. See the lamb might actually fall to us. I was freaking out. They were telling me to shut up, trade.
Eddie 00:24:26 It up in front of us. And they grabbed a Judy.
Prescott 00:24:29 Yeah, a Judy got drafted by the Broncos and Ruggs got drafted by the Raiders. And so and then it was like some other was it.
Eddie 00:24:37 The Eagles traded up in front of us and grabbed man.
Prescott 00:24:40 I can't remember I don't.
Eddie 00:24:41 Remember.
Prescott 00:24:41 Somebody.
Eddie 00:24:42 But yeah in front of us grab somebody. And that left KD and I'll.
Eddie 00:24:46 That's when I stood up in front of the window and I was like how about that fucking cowboys? And my wife was like, be quiet yelling in the neighborhood. And I was like, we're about to drop KD. You have no idea. Oh, that was okay. So yeah, yeah. Like the combine this year, there were some, some standouts. Some guys really made a big name for themselves and the running backs. Since Yante wasn't there, some of the other running backs had to kind of step up and and kind of showed what the showcase, what they can do. Like.
Prescott 00:25:15 Yeah. Hampton when a guy from North Carolina.
Eddie 00:25:19 Hampton I think probably took like a majority votes away from first first, you know RB one Jesse obviously I think no, I don't think anybody's going to pass up for him. But there could there is arguments now that says, you know, this guy is they're comparing the draft to, the, the one where Gibbs was drafted second, but really turned out to be even better.
Prescott 00:25:47 Yeah, yeah. But turned out to be better than Bijan. But that's what they're saying. The jury's still out. Bijan still has a chance. Because that guy ruined him. Just like he ruined Pitts is.
Eddie 00:25:59 He's a different kind of back, though. I mean, Gibbs, Gibbs in that offense is ridiculous, and I don't you put.
Prescott 00:26:07 Up with.
Eddie 00:26:07 Him in that Detroit offense. You would have the same success because.
Prescott 00:26:11 It's just one of those things where he just ended up in the right situation. Yeah, 100% kind of like Mahomes with us because you know they picked Trubisky over Mahomes. If Mahomes went to the bears he would not be Mahomes right now.
Eddie 00:26:26 If he would have played that way and got thrown into the mix probably. Yeah.
Prescott 00:26:29 He would not be Mahomes. So it's like where you go matters. So I don't care how good you are. Will you go matters.
Eddie 00:26:36 Yeah. You know there was some some really big offensive linemen kind of stuck out because that is going to be something that we're going to be taking a look at.
Eddie 00:26:43 That's that's high up on our priority because. Yeah. Rep. Zach.
Prescott 00:26:48 So if you had to pick the top three. What position we're doing first three rounds.
Eddie 00:26:53 If Jessie is in there, I hope we trade back or we pick a offensive lineman at 12, because there's some really amazing offensive linemen that are ridiculous, right? The second. But if we trade it back into, like, you know, the early 20s or the late teens, I think that we're going to do offensive line. And that's what I think we need to do.
Prescott 00:27:13 I say go, best player available. I don't, but.
Eddie 00:27:15 I don't want to handcuff ourselves and say best player available and pick and, burden as a wide receiver when when you don't. We have a big huge hole in the offensive line. Now you picked a wide receiver two and that's great. But eventually you'll have to pay. I mean, it just makes more sense to to put that investment in somebody that's going to be. Yeah, I just think that now it could be this would be this is yeah.
Prescott 00:27:43 I this is one of those times where I don't think we're going to be, like shocked because like, like when when they picked even Parsons I don't think anybody's like Micah Parsons, like pick that guy. Or when they pick, you know, like certain players or Frederick.
Eddie 00:28:01 When we picked Tyler Smith, that was a big what who?
Prescott 00:28:04 Yeah, yeah, that was a big one. I think after we make our pick then we'll be saying, yeah, I like this one. I think that, that whenever we do pick this time, I think we'll be satisfied in the first round. It might not be who we want, but I don't think we'll be like, who? This the this go around.
Eddie 00:28:22 We'll do a we'll do a mock draft soon as a free agency starts on the 12th.
Prescott 00:28:29 We'll be focused on. Yeah, we'll be focusing on free agency first because we still got time for the draft.
Eddie 00:28:33 In eight days.
Prescott 00:28:34 Eight days. Draft is draft is in April. We got a long time to.
Eddie 00:28:38 The the fact that, that free agency starts on the 12th this year. I have a better feeling because last year when it was coming up, I was like, hey, you know, there's going to be some guys here and there. And during that whole week we're like, yeah, don't get excited because we're not going to sign anybody. We don't have any money. We don't have any money. Exactly. Zero.
Prescott 00:28:59 Exactly.
Eddie 00:29:00 I was like, we got to go smell the well, everybody was eating at McDonald's. That was about it. It was like we had no.
Prescott 00:29:08 Money and we still had. And we still had a lot of players that were already signed. So it's like we already had we had too many players. Like, now we're going to have to be like, I'm telling you, we have to sign people we like. We don't have a choice. We don't have a team right now. We have to sign people in free. Like, even if we even if all of our draft picks started, we still need to sign in free agency.
Eddie 00:29:32 If they didn't sign anybody in free agency in this first week and we lost and we lost everybody, it's not the end of the world. We we still would be able to sign, but anybody all the way up through the season. It's just that these are the top free agents that are going to go, you know what I mean?
Prescott 00:29:49 Yeah. Like we don't I don't see anyone. I don't see anyone who. We need to go break the bank for it. Let me put it that way. I don't see anyone like that. No.
Eddie 00:29:58 Like people were freaking out today about, you know, the Jets releasing.
Prescott 00:30:05 A monte Adams. Yeah. Now, I would not picking him, but I'm not paying top dollar for him. You're already paying top dollar for a wide receiver. He's. I think we can get a blue chip round of.
Eddie 00:30:14 Draft like like with Cooper Kupp. If we trade for him it probably going to be a situation like what we saw with Debo where it's like a fifth round pick to get him.
Prescott 00:30:26 Well we don't have to. They released Devonte.
Eddie 00:30:28 Adams. What I'm saying okay this is a big difference with Cooper Kupp. His salary this year is like 14.5. And next year is 16 right. Yeah. So bear with you. So if we traded it for him, we know we're renting him for two years. Yeah. With the other free agents like this that don't, they're going to get what the with their value is right now. Yeah. So he could sign a $26 million contract.
Prescott 00:30:56 He could. Yeah. I could see someone, you know, desperate to sign him for that.
Eddie 00:31:00 Yeah. Like, I don't think that we can afford something like that. I think that we need to either draft or find somebody like that. Yeah, or. I mean, that's the same thing that is going to happen with, like, the guy from, Seattle, they want to trade Metcalf. Metcalf? Trade Metcalf. And he's not going to get I mean, he's not going to get a restructured salary right away.
Eddie 00:31:23 He's going to get what he's being paid right now.
Prescott 00:31:25 Yeah, yeah, he's going to want that or more.
Eddie 00:31:27 You know. Yeah. So I just think I just think that, that I think that's the, the best financial way or Stefon Diggs is a free agent also.
Prescott 00:31:39 Yeah I don't like it only because he's coming off that injury. I don't I don't like that.
Eddie 00:31:43 I mean, it's a motivation thing with his brother too.
Prescott 00:31:46 So I think we need like because we don't need bottom of the, you know, we don't need like average receivers because we have lamb and we already have average. We have Tolbert, we have Mingo and we have the other guy, the like the, the the rookie we had that was doing pretty good. Flournoy. Flournoy. Yeah. So we have we have those guys I think I think we need one big name. And then we have, I think we need one big name. And then and then we can start filling out the bottom with, with, you know, no name receivers.
Eddie 00:32:19 I don't think they need to even I think we have we have KD, we have Mingo. and then we have, Tolbert. So there's three players that can play. Yeah. Flournoy is on contract. He's going to either be on practice squad or he'll be like the fourth or fifth. We should draft and sign somebody. So we should sign a free agent if we can.
Prescott 00:32:41 I said Keenan Allen. He did pretty good. I like Keenan Allen.
Eddie 00:32:44 Yeah. As long as you.
Prescott 00:32:46 Come out runner. Dak loves the route runners.
Eddie 00:32:49 As long as he comes to the zone doctor in his own way.
Prescott 00:32:52 Yeah. No man like man. Put some adamantium steel in his bones or something. That's the problem. So make sure he's all right. But he did pretty good last year. He was actually pretty healthy last year for the most part. For for him, he was healthy for the most part. Their offense was just abysmal. It was so bad. He was open a lot and Caleb Williams missed him a lot.
Prescott 00:33:13 But and that's why I was like, we need him. And that's why he stayed healthy. Because he didn't even get to catch the ball, to get tackled, to get hurt. So so that's why he probably stayed healthy all season. But who knows. Chicken or the egg. But we'll see. But yeah. But anyway. But this is just our first show coming back. We want to ease on in there. We don't want to give you all the whole thing. Just a tip. So y'all can, get ready for free agency. Coming up. You got the draft coming up somewhere, then training camp, then we got all that. Then we'll have you all ready for the season. So by the time August comes around that first preseason game, we'll be back to being excited about the Cowboys and hating the Eagles and hating the Giants and hating the the Swash, the seabirds.
Eddie 00:33:56 We didn't even have to talk about when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. We just let that pass.
Prescott 00:33:59 Yeah.
Prescott 00:33:59 I'm glad. I'm glad we were out for that. I'm glad. I'm glad we were out for that. But we back, we back up. So tell your friends the, come get a hit first times free. So, we got some testers out right now. I see y'all come on and get it.
Eddie 00:34:14 Yeah. So the next couple of weeks, we're going to be talking about, free agency. we're talking about, draft selections and scouting and, you know, what strategies what we're going to have some guests on from the discord.
Prescott 00:34:30 And, yeah, we're going to try to get people to come on here and and give us because we got a couple of draft gurus in there, College gurus. So I lean on those guys. They, they come to me for for relationship advice and I go to them for college football advice.
Eddie 00:34:44 We're going to do a mock draft where, oh, we're going to we did.
Prescott 00:34:48 One last year, so we're going to do it again.
Eddie 00:34:50 And so stick around, make sure that you're, you're following, subscribe to our, our channels and everything this so that you get the alerts because we, the information that we're going to provide is going to be, quite hot.
Prescott 00:35:05 Off the press. Hot off the press.
Eddie 00:35:06 Right?
Prescott 00:35:08 Yeah, straight out the oven. Come get you a slice.
Eddie 00:35:10 Straight up straight. it's going to be that Cinnabon smell in the airport.
Prescott 00:35:15 Oh, man. Oh, it smells so good.
Eddie 00:35:18 Pump out.
Prescott 00:35:19 Smells so good. I'm excited. All right, Eddie, tell the people buy us so we can roll on out of your dinner time.
Eddie 00:35:24 You know? You know how it is. make sure that you're, hugging and kissing everybody that you love some. Good night. Don't go to bed angry. I love you kids.
Prescott 00:35:32 That's right. All right, y'all be good. And, holler.
Eddie 00:35:38 Peace out, bro.
