I guess you can call it free agency, but that's that's that's that's kind of done. Now, when I kind of done with free agency, we don't really.

Eddie 00:01:26  It is it's kind of trickling in here and there. Right. We knew there was going.

Prescott 00:01:29  To be it's it's going to be scraggly. It's like I mean it's still some good names out there. You know they got still got the Calais Campbell's out there, the Asante Samuel Juniors out there. But at this point I think they know where they want to go. And they just don't want to go to maybe like OTAs or whatever. So they're they're playing their cards or they might have some kind of secret hidden injury that we don't know about, and they're trying to go as long as possible.

Prescott 00:01:55  Who knows. But but I don't know why they still out there. Something's wrong. Red flags. But I think the Cowboys are set in free agency right now and our eyes are toward the draft. So that's we gonna look it out 29 days until the draft.

Eddie 00:02:10  29 days and 25. Hey.

Eddie 00:02:15  It seemed like, like, literally we're talking about. It was like, three months away. It was like, oh, my God. You know, the draft is so far, it's 29 days away.

Eddie 00:02:25  Bro. That's 29 sleeps. my kids used to talk about, like.

Prescott 00:02:30  A Christmas man.

Eddie 00:02:33  So we got, in these last couple of weeks before the draft. We have pro days that are kind of finishing up a lot of, things are at the very end. A lot of, official visits, you know, the Cowboys we talked about a little bit last week. About what? What the requirements are for those visits. Oh, yeah. the,

Prescott 00:02:56  30 the the the 30 visits we get.

Prescott 00:02:58  Plus we get a few more. If they're actually from the DFW area, we get a little extra. Sucks for places like Kansas City.

Eddie 00:03:06  Well, yeah, but when I looked at it, there's a tweet out there that shows all of the local guys that are from the local colleges and that are that should be coming. And there was I tried to pick through them. There wasn't any really big names in there, but at least, you know, it gives these guys, you know, another lane to try out. Because it's not just the Cowboys that go to those things, it's the Arena League teams. They all I mean, everybody that has something to do with football will go to those. It's like a little tryout. It's nice and it makes it good for those.

Prescott 00:03:39  Yeah. No. I'm sorry. I mean, to cut you off, I just going to drop in there for people. That makes it good for, if you're not a big name from that city. So, like, for instance, here in Texas, I mean, in DFW area, we got like TCU, SMU.

Prescott 00:03:54  So if there's a half decent guy at TCU or SMU. Then we can take a look at it without having to infringe on our 30 day visits like that. Savion Williams he's from TCU, so he so he won't count against our 30 because he's from DFW. So that's why.

Eddie 00:04:11  I think he will he I don't know if he there. There's a list of it's weird. Like we don't put out a list that says these are our 30 visits and these are the ones that count against us. It's weird. Yeah, I think we'll do it later on. But like what? So far, who's been officially invited is Ashton Gentry. If if you saw it today, his pro day, all 32 teams were at his pro day. Everybody was talking about all 32 teams okay. So then we got Ashton, we got Ollie Gordon. Yeah. If all he would have came out last year he would have been a first round pick. I mean first or second round pick. It's been weird. So he's kind of fallen.

Eddie 00:04:56  But I still think he has.

Prescott 00:04:59  A name because his name is Ali. I don't know any anybody born in the 90s named Ali. So that's his.

Eddie 00:05:04  Fault.

Eddie 00:05:06  Anyway, to cartoon my kids. And then, Quinn Ewers, if you're a, if you're a Longhorns, fan, then you're happy that you were just coming. I'm I'm I would be just fine if you didn't come. got also Damien Martinez, running back from Miami. Another guy that I kind of did a deep dive in today that I had no idea about was bashful, tootin, bashful tootin running back to attack. Kid's a monster. This kid has. I mean, he's a he was the fastest running back in in the at the combine. He ran A43 40. He is stacked. He's like two. I think he weighs like 214. He's like five nine, 214. That's like Emmitt Smith size, right? When when Emmitt was real.

Prescott 00:05:57  He was.

Eddie 00:05:57  Built stocky.

Prescott 00:05:58  Yeah.

Eddie 00:05:59  So. But, he's he's a real deal.

Eddie 00:06:03  So he's he was invited. We got Savion Williams, receiver from TCU. Alfred Collins.

Prescott 00:06:09  Yeah.

Eddie 00:06:10  Alfred is actually even though he went to Texas and he grew up he grew up a little bit too far to be an official visit, like a free official visit for us. So it's just weird. But he's one of the biggest D tackles. You know, if we're going to move away from OSI or at least have somebody with him. I mean, Alfred Columns brings a size that guys like 331 huge.

Prescott 00:06:32  He's a he's a he's a real.

Prescott 00:06:33  Run stopper big dude man.

Eddie 00:06:37  My my question is is where is UT getting these guys. Because remember last year I think they're just knocking the horns off these guys and they're you know and putting cleats on it because these guys are not human.

Prescott 00:06:49  What's making me mad is UT is like they should have been getting these guys. They have all the resources. I don't know why they're not getting these guys.

Eddie 00:06:57  We've had them in the last couple of years. And then.

Eddie 00:07:00  Andrew, McCullough, a safety from Texas. And then, Dillon Samson was a running back from Tennessee that we officially invited as well. So as these next couple of weeks happen, we'll get a better list of all the guys that actually have official visits. And when they're coming and, you know, it'll be fun.

And just so like we're where we're at compared to other teams, there are some teams that like for instance the like who is it. the Rams, they've only had one official 30 visit Isaiah Bond from Texas. So it's like it's it's it's just whenever they do it it's it's nothing official. So this is a slow news time. So so so people say it but it's not really anything that's like breaking news. But the only the only thing I can say I read about was normally the Cowboys draft out of this group. Normally they do every once in a while.

Prescott 00:07:58  They don't, but for the most part they mostly draft out of this 30 group.

Eddie 00:08:03  And when somebody said that last year and I kind of looked into it and I'm, I think I got to like 6 or 7 teams in and I was like, every team does this. Yeah. Every team drafts from their their visits because it is a it's a thorough interview on your home court. Like this is where this here's our doctors here's our trainers. Here are our strength guys. You know, those guys are the ones that are asking the questions to the players. So it's almost like having a you either having like a zoom interview with like five guys for a job or you're bringing this one guy and you're flying him in and he's staying at at your campus, you know what I mean? So I think that's one.

Prescott 00:08:44  Of the bigger.

Prescott 00:08:45  I want to say that the last time that they drafted somebody who was not on this list was, Maurice Claiborne when he went there. and we moved like traded up the number six and drafted him.

Prescott 00:09:01  I think that was the last time they drafted somebody who, because at that point, nobody knew that they were going to move up to get him and where they were at. It was no way he was going to make it to them.

Eddie 00:09:13  So it was like, really the first I was like, yeah, there's got to be a lot of players that we didn't draft that, didn't we?

Prescott 00:09:18  Yeah, in the first round I'm saying normally the first round they they draft somebody from this list. But I think he was the last person, where they picked somebody who was not in that 30 list.

Eddie 00:09:30  So it's.

Prescott 00:09:31  Weird. That's why I say it's it's few and far between.

Eddie 00:09:35  It's weird that he is one of the first round busts. Who? Yeah. You think about. Oh, man. Really?

Prescott 00:09:43  He he's from my city to man Shreveport. But he was he was mostly a bust because he just couldn't stay healthy. He was he was hurt all the time. Yeah, well, then he lost his confidence.

Eddie 00:09:53  But anyway, from a first round pick.

Prescott 00:09:55  Yeah.

Eddie 00:09:55  From a especially if you're drafted.

Prescott 00:09:58  But anyway yeah so those are some good names. So so we'll see how it goes. But let's, let's do some some Cowboys news. Anything new on the on the Micah Parsons extension for.

Eddie 00:10:13  Well, nothing. Nothing really. I mean, some things have trickled in here and there. You can believe rumors, but I tend to kind of try and stay within the the realm of reality. Like, who's really talking about it? If you're if you're talking about, like, a big, you know, reporter and like, an ESPN guy is going to say he's just retreating. What, what he's reading from these local guys. So more, more local, more team wise. I think they're they're working on it. I think we'll have some news in the next week or so, because it's.

Prescott 00:10:48  So they're not going to.

Eddie 00:10:49  Literally is no reason to stretch it out. Right.

Prescott 00:10:54  There's no they got it.

Prescott 00:10:56  And it's not like they're trying to create. Yeah. Like they're trying to create cap space or anything. Like it's signing him saves cap space. So it's like it's no reason. Like you said, zero reason unless they just feel like the Mavericks did with Luka that he's just not the guy. That's the only reason which I don't see how. I mean, I have zero red flags with Mike Gasol so I don't know.

Eddie 00:11:18  Yeah, I don't see it either. Everybody talks about his podcasting and give me a break. Does he he everybody does different things outside of that I mean yeah like Patrick Mahomes Pat Mahomes I mean he he has two kids man. And I mean what's he doing outside. Why isn't he practicing football. He's changing diapers all the time. He's he's feeding his children all the time.

Prescott 00:11:42  He's making Costco runs. They should cut him right now.

Eddie 00:11:45  Cut. Is that.

Prescott 00:11:46  So? What about the, make a trade to the Patriots? They're not going to do that. Oh, no no no no no no no.

Prescott 00:11:53  I saw this one rumor about trading Parsons to the Patriots for like a crapload of stuff. I was laughing, but.

Eddie 00:12:00  I wasn't the Patriots, it was the Browns. So the what they did was they talked about it was a Cleveland guy, saying that that Dak was going to go to the.

Prescott 00:12:10  No no no no no.

Prescott 00:12:11  Not Dak I'm talking about a week ago with Parsons. They had a huge Parsons straight to the to to the Patriots. We'll get to the Dak one. But they said the package was Patriots would give them number for their second round pick their fifth round pick the first round pick next year and the third round pick in 2027. And then the Patriots would would get our number 12 pick. And Parsons and.

Eddie 00:12:36  Think about it, think about it. It's the same bullshit as this as the Dak one. It's just some random thing.

Prescott 00:12:44  This is some random person saying it's going to happen. So for the ones who don't know that that that Dak one just dropped today where supposedly the Browns are in talks with the with the Cowboys about trading for Dak.

Eddie 00:12:58  So it was a radio personality. It wasn't even a writer. It was a radio that said that. And we were going to get a cornerback and a draft pick. And they were going to get Dak. And you know our our writers right away said, oh yeah, absolutely. There's no fucking way that's happening.

Prescott 00:13:17  So but those guys wouldn't do that just for likes and clicks though. They they have integrity. They they will report the truth and have people come to their thing.

Eddie 00:13:26  We need to come up with some schedule. We need to come up with something that we're going to drop exclusively on him.

Prescott 00:13:32  Eddie is dating sexy Red. I don't think y'all know that.

Eddie 00:13:35  But you know what I mean. Like, just drop it and then send a couple tweets on it and just be like, I don't know, I just heard it on the show.

Prescott 00:13:43  Yeah. So one thing we can talk about that's true is what are they going to do with, what are they going to do with the backup quarterback because they haven't made anything.

Prescott 00:13:56  And you know, Lance is still out there. what's his name.

Eddie 00:14:01  When I see him? Did you see what I put in the discord about Lance?

Prescott 00:14:33  I wonder I wonder if that's like official only because I know those teams. They can add people to who they want without actually signing those people. Like you can say, oh, I lay a claim to this person. So I wonder, like. Like what?

Eddie 00:14:47  It's like a draft pick. You could draft somebody and they don't have to play for you.

Prescott 00:14:50  But yeah, they claim you have to pay for it.

Prescott 00:14:52  So yeah.

Eddie 00:14:53  He's not on any team. So they're either going to be like, hey, what are you going to do? What are you going to do? Yeah I don't. And so the.

Prescott 00:14:59  And if you're a Cowboys fan you've been living in. Yeah. And have you been living in a box Cooper Rush went to Baltimore because, you know, his game mimicked Lamar Jackson's perfectly. So in case Lamar went down Cooper Rush can come in.

Eddie 00:15:12  The first thing that I wrote in the in response to that was they picked him up so that they could be like, hey white boy, come in here. You play Aaron Rodgers today. You know what I mean. Like they can't.

Prescott 00:15:25  But a scout team for the scout team.

Eddie 00:15:28  Scout team hard core.

Prescott 00:15:29  Like how they used to have Jamaal showers play for us when he was on the team. He was every athletic quarterback on the scout team. Every every week.

Eddie 00:15:36  A meal showers. Oh yeah.

Prescott 00:15:38  Man do you remember that when it was legit.

Eddie 00:15:41  For like four years bro? It was ridiculous.

Prescott 00:15:43  It was legit when they they drafted Dak. He was at the bottom of the roster. It was Romo Kellen more Jamil showers and then Dak And like all kind of stuff happen, like some, some crazy stuff happen. Of course, everybody knows Romo got hurt in the preseason. Kellen Moore broke his ankle in practice and then Jamaal Charles was just suck. So that's how Dak ended up being Dak. You had to be there that year. It was it was special.

Eddie 00:16:13  It was fun. Those were fun years.

Prescott 00:16:15  yeah.

Eddie 00:16:16  But it also was a year where we didn't have a lot of expectations to we had a rookie running back.

Prescott 00:16:22  We didn't. Yeah.

Eddie 00:16:23  Quarterback.

Prescott 00:16:24  We didn't think we were going.

Eddie 00:16:24  To be like, oh my God, these guys are fucking great.

Prescott 00:16:27  Great man. But so anyway, the only quarterback we have on the roster, it's Wil Greer. So it's Dak and Greer.

Eddie 00:16:34  Yeah. So this this is what we're we're talking about all week about because there's some people that are I mean I think the front office came out and said something about how we need to draft our backup quarterback.

Eddie 00:16:47  We're going to draft our back. Yeah. And I think the reason why they said that is A lot of people have come out and said, you know, that's the way that you need to go. You can't you can't build a roster with a $40 million quarterback. You just can't. Yeah. So look at the 40 Niners, right. They had they had Brock's. They had Purdy's rookie quarterback contract the last four years. And they were able to build a roster. And now they're going to pay him. They lose people. But that's how they were able to pay him. So I think, you know, I think we're kind of getting pressured into that. But I don't think we should. I'm going to go over all all three of what we're what we can do. But my my opinion is that we shouldn't draft a quarterback this year. I don't think we should trade for one either. There's too many vets that we can design for to be a bridge quarterback. So our our options are drafting a quarterback right.

Prescott 00:17:47  And then so with the draft how high should they go. That's the highest draft pick.

Eddie 00:17:54  You have to think we have ten draft picks. We have about 11, 13 holes that we need to fill. We know we can't fill them all.

Prescott 00:18:03  Many. So many.

Eddie 00:18:05  Yeah, but you have to be careful with how you draft with the premium picks because those contracts are expensive. Right. Yeah.

Prescott 00:18:14  The first three rounds.

Eddie 00:18:15  If you draft a left tackle in the first round, you're going to end up paying that guy 30, 35, $40 million a year. Gonna happen. Same thing with the quarterback. Same thing with the receiver, same thing with the cornerback. So you got to be careful. You might be able to draft a guard. You might be able to draft a safety or linebacker, somebody that's going to. So it has to fit the way it has fit. So if we draft a quarterback, I really don't think we should spend anything higher than one of our fifth, fifth or, you know, fifth or seventh, fifth, 6 or 7 that we have anything at all.

Eddie 00:18:48  I can live with that. We should trade that third or fourth. We don't have a fourth because we are traded that way.

Prescott 00:18:54  We don't have like 3/5, but we don't have a fourth.

Eddie 00:18:57  We already got.

Prescott 00:18:58  Rid of.

Eddie 00:18:58  We got we only have two.

Prescott 00:19:00  Oh that's right. Yeah you're right.

Eddie 00:19:01  We got one left for a linebacker. But so the, the the quarterbacks that I feel like would be a good fit in the draft would be depending on how far dart drops dart could be drafted in the second round he could be drafted in the fifth. We have no idea.

Prescott 00:19:18  I have no idea.

Eddie 00:19:19  So dart mill row. Gabriel. And then I guess this kid McCord from Syracuse. Yeah. I guess he's been working with McCarthy. I don't know how that would work. You know, like, hey, let me grab this kid that's being taught for the coach that we just let go. It's kind of weird.

Prescott 00:19:35  Yeah, but.

Eddie 00:19:37  So. So what do you. I mean, do you think at the end of the at the end of the draft is probably where we don't want to send us first or.

Eddie 00:19:45  No.

Prescott 00:19:46  So it like like like for example, I hated the give up a fourth for Lance pick. I hated that But I didn't mind the give up a fourth for Mingo because let's say, like he's going to be better than any wide receiver they draft in the fourth round. So that's why I didn't mind that. But I did not like the the the Lance give up Lance for fourth pick at all.

Eddie 00:20:12  If if you know if if the I think if the coaching staff or the front office was in a better position and willing to to like give plays to Lance. Yeah. But they didn't like. Right. Like we're nothing with Dak at all. So it just didn't make any sense.

Prescott 00:20:32  It did.

Eddie 00:20:32  Not. So the timing just didn't didn't work out with that. I didn't like I don't want everybody keeps saying that they want to trade for Joe Milton the third on the Patriots. Because you know you know I you know I'll trade a third in a heartbeat for him because there's not a quarterback that.

Eddie 00:20:53  But we just had him on our team. We just had Lance on our team. Like, I don't think Milton is that much better than Lance right now.

Prescott 00:21:03  And I would only do it if it's like a sixth or seventh round or something like that.

Eddie 00:21:08  It's the only way round pick, I think maybe. Okay, I wouldn't be mad about it, but I wouldn't be super happy about it because.

Prescott 00:21:14  I would not.

Eddie 00:21:15  Want that. The the vets out there right now, you can sign Lance. You can. I mean, if he's not locked into that Canadian contract, but what he's he's familiar with the surroundings. if we can pick them up for cheap, why not. You know you know, we can. It could be a bridge. I don't give, you know, any of these guys that we signed should be just a one year like Drew Lock, Case Keenum, Lance, all those even, what's his what's his old ass from the Colts and the Flacco. Flacco somebody like that that can carry a ball to from the center to a running backs.

Eddie 00:21:56  Hands. Yeah. For a couple games. Why not spend, you know, $1 million a year for a year, $2 million for a year?

Prescott 00:22:04  I can live with that.

Eddie 00:22:06  I think that's what we should do with our backup quarterback. Don't draft a quarterback. Don't don't waste a pick on a quarterback because he's going to sit behind deck. Yeah, for two years or 2 or 3 years at least.

Prescott 00:22:19  So I'm in agreement with that plan. I wouldn't mind getting, you know, Drew Lock what do you think? Or somebody like Mitchell Trubisky, somebody like that. I wouldn't mind getting somebody like that. And then next year we'd have to do something with like a fourth or fifth round pick and get a quarterback. I can go with that.

Eddie 00:22:42  I don't know what happened. Somebody was frozen.

Prescott 00:22:44  Yeah. No, you just frozen. Yeah. You're good. I see you now.
