♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ like there ain't no breaks no rest stop we're trying to get your head chopped the whole club yelling everybody here we go here we go 50 formation podcast it's your boy Prescott say what's up to the people Eddie what's up ladies and gentlemen welcome to another week of Dallas Cowboys football Oh, you guys going out there? Except there's no Dallas Cowboys football going on. We're in the dead zone. Oh, yeah. A little bit. Whatever it was, that small training camp is over. No more trades. No more signings, really. They did sign that defensive tackle, that one guy. Did they sign him after our show last week? I can't remember. We signed two guys from the UFO. We signed a defensive tackle. No, we signed the defensive tackle from the UFL, but then we also signed a corner. That's right, from Green Bay. Yeah, from Green Bay. And both of those guys were camp bodies. You know, it wasn't one of those, oh, sure, you can step in and start right now. No, no, no. I'm going to stop you right there. None of those guys can start on this team. Oh, yeah. I'm telling you right now. Make the case. Make the case. Well, when the pads go on, you're going to see that defensive lineman. shine. I don't even have a name in front of me. A hundred percent. If you look at what? The crazy part is they let Rodgers go, which shocked me. They must think he's better than Rodgers. Rodgers hasn't even played a snap on our team. I know. That's what I'm saying. They got to give him a look. I guess they saw enough of him to be like, yeah, he's not going to work for what we want to do. That's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking that, I mean, we were hurting so badly for a one-tech. Man, to not make this team, that position, that means you really suck. But the guy that we picked up, I keep, I'm looking for his name, if you can find his name faster than I am. Darian, Damian. But he was one of the best defensive linemen in the UFL. When you go back to his college years where he played with our starting middle linebacker, Murray, he was an absolute animal at Oklahoma. Perri-Arne Winfrey. Winfrey. There we go. That's his name. So just mark this right now that you will see when the pads come on, We're going to see our undrafted free agent from UCLA, and this kid right here are going to give Mozzie a run for snaps at that one time. And the new cornerback, his name is Robert Rochelle. Yeah. So they were like, when that announcement came out, they were like, Dallas has a Green Bay cornerback, but not the right one. Yeah. Everybody wanted Jair Alexander. And he only went for like $4 million, so it wasn't like a big signing. But I could see why they didn't because he's like – he's constantly hurt. Like he's always missing games. And it was like – and that's why Green Bay let him go. It wasn't because he couldn't play well. It's just like we're not going to pay $17 million, but someone's going to pay six to eight games maybe. So that's why they let him go. It's like our Tyron problem, right? It's like the games that he plays, he's freaking elite. But, I mean, do you pay? I mean, you're actually doubling the salary because he only plays half a season, right? Exactly. That's basically what it's like. It's like you have to pay another player to cover for him. Yeah. So it's like it's crazy. But anyway, so because it's the dead time of the year, we have a game we want to play. I don't know what you want to call it. We're talking in the Discord and Reddit, and some of the people were kind of talking about, hey, some ideas are with these slow times, let's talk about an all-time Dallas Cowboy team, right? Like doing a draft of an all-time Dallas Cowboy team. And when we were thinking about it, you and I were talking about it. I mean, that's been done a million times. We can go through and, I mean, you can Google right now all-time Dallas Cowboy team. And a lot of them would be from the 90s, you know, yeah. So what I thought was, and our boy Prescott came up with an idea of let's do an all-decade team. And I was like, oh, that's pretty good because, I mean, going back 25 years. And then I was thinking, I was like, well, let's take it a step further, just a little bit. Because we have such a, because half of our fan base throws in the other half face all the time. We haven't won a Super Bowl since. I decided to like, hey, why don't we try and come up with an all Cowboys team from the, we haven't done shit since. Which is, which I'm going to call it the post Super Bowl squad. So that was the only requirement was that they're on the team after the Super Bowl. Problem with that is there was quite a bit. I mean, there was like about three handfuls of players that played in the Super Bowl that played for another like three or four years. So I tried to keep those guys out of it because those guys obviously were elite. So for those who don't know, our last Super Bowl was in 1995. And so we want to pick players that joined the team after 1995. Like you said, there were a few players, you know, Troy Aikman was on the team after the Super Bowls, Michael Irvin was, Emmitt Smith was. A lot of the good players were still on the team after those three Super Bowls. I mean, Larry Allen played like four offensive line positions after the Super Bowl. They moved him everywhere. Yeah, so that was the rule. They had to join the team, whether it be signed, traded for, drafted after the Super Bowl. So they had to join. Their first year was after the Super Bowl. Nobody, you know, picking up crumbs, making our special team. Like going through and researching, like you're looking through and you're like, oh, my God, I forgot that guy. I forgot that guy. Yeah, like, man, that guy was so good. Scott Vegeta, that and win. I'm like, man, that and win was so good. He was one of the first smallish linebackers, like before, linebackers, 6'5", and mountains of men. And when he came in, it was like, man. Don't get ahead of us. Anyway. I'm so excited seeing these names. Don't ruin your dinner with the dessert. Dexter Coakley? Man, y'all don't know, man. Where's my mute button? Okay, I'll stop. I'll stop. All right, so this is what we're going to do. you'll have the, you can pick first and then I'll, I'll follow up right before you or right after you, but I'll just read out a couple of guys that you could choose from. If you had come up with somebody that, that wasn't on this list, that's fine. Draft him if you want. But I feel like they're probably, um, I didn't even show you this list yet. So what position do you, uh, let's start on offense. Yeah. Start on offense. Let's go with, uh, let's just start, uh, We'll go from left to right offensive line, and then we'll go with the specialty. So this was kind of a no-brainer, kind of difficult to pick through on the left tackle because there wasn't too many guys to choose from. Yeah, there really wasn't. Tyron Smith, Flozel Adams. I mean, there's a couple guys that played here and there. If you want to choose one of the newer guys, I mean, Tyler Smith is going to be amazing, but I don't know if you can shoot him in. You forgot the goat. Jeremy Parnell. Get out of here. Get out of here. The guy that gave up the six sacks that, that, that one. No, no, no, that was, uh, I'll remember him, but he was playing right tackle. He wasn't playing left tackle. The guy against Atlanta. Ah, man. What's that guy's name? I think it was. Wow. Uh, green, green, green, green, green, green. That's it from Florida. how do I know this like why do I know what college like I don't remember my anniversary but I remember what college Chaz Green went to alright so between Tyron Smith and Flozel Adams oh it's Tyron Smith easy all day Tyron all day he's going to the hall of fame he did a lot for our team he took team friendly deals he was just a freaking a manimal. He was a leader in the locker room. I mean, we needed him. We lost him. The best thing about him was he was so good and so strong. He would ragdoll so many defensive ends. They would call holding, and then when they would go back, like Buck and Aikman would go back and look at the holding card like, man, terrible penalty by Tyrone Smith there, and then they'd go back and look, and he would just dominate them so much like the referee would throw the flag. That had to be a hold. That was my favorite thing about him. that's funny all right so left guard so we we have some pretty good left guards there we got tyler smith we got connor williams and we got ron leary those of you that know i mean with connor williams was drafted to be the heir apparent left left guard he was going to be the man but he he couldn't get to the second level and he couldn't stop holding that's all it was it was a holding every single time there was a long play do you remember that you saw holding holding number 53 that was he 52 yeah 52 why do i know this anyway because because we know lyrics and we know numbers i gave strong consideration to ron leary though he was a good story he was a undrafted free agent he had a he he should have been in the first three rounds, but a lot of doctors found a degenerative knee issue with him, and they were like, we don't know how long this guy's even going to play. It could be one year. It could be 10 years. He dropped all the way to undrafted free agent. Cowboy signed him. They plugged him in, and he was a nasty left guard. He was so good. Them DeMarco Murray years were golden. Yeah. Larry's a good guy. I'm still going to pick Tyler Smith because he's a road grader. Me too. I'm still picking Tyler Smith, but Larry has got strong consideration for me. And then let's go ahead and move on to our centers. That's too easy. As you both know, as long as you're not a casual, center is the point guard on the offensive line. He's the leader. He's basically the quarterback of the offensive line. You got Travis Frederick. You got Tyler Biedasch. And I threw Stepnowski, and I know that he played in the Super Bowl. I shouldn't have done that, but I was looking for other centers. Breaking the rules. The only other centers that really played a little bit more was Andre Gouraud played like two or three seasons. Yeah, he was pretty good. Andre Gouraud was pretty good until this name stepped on his face, Albert Hainsworth. Yeah, I remember that was pretty tough. But Travis Frederick was an easy one. Like left tackle, center, and right guard, those were just too easy. Yeah, right guard, Zach Martin, Leonard Davis. You don't even need to name anybody else. I mean Leonard Davis was a pretty badass. He was pretty good but he was no Zach Martin. Zach Martin is the first ballot in the Hall of Fame Got it Even though we are all now finding out that a portion of the problems that we're having right now financially are because of our boy We didn't even think and we didn't know about it Yeah, held out, signed a contract and then retired on us And then right tackle. This is where it's going to be a little bit of controversy because I don't know if we all agree on the same ones. We got Steele. We got Steele. We got L. Collins. We have Doug Free. And we got Marco Colombo. Man, I got to go with late career Doug Free. He was a very he was when he was healthy i think doug free was one of the best offensive linemen on our team i think so it was very valuable but that was the one thing that he couldn't do was he couldn't stay healthy he was like but his first few years he was so bad he would have so many holding like his technique was bad and then toward the end of his career the right coaches got a hold him. I think Bill Callahan got a hold of him. I want to say 2014 with the Marco Murray. He was just stellar. He was spectacular. He was great his last two or three years before he just fell off a cliff. I had Doug Free down. I think that's a good decision. If I didn't choose Doug Free, I'm definitely choosing Marco Colombo. because he was a bully. I love offensive linemen that are bullies, that are mean, that are just nasty, that you don't want to sit by them, you don't want to talk to them because they're mad all the time. I love offensive linemen like that because they will eat your lunch. And this goes to show you that talent doesn't always win because out of all the names you named, Lyle Collins was by far the most talented out all of them physically talented. Absolutely Yeah, and he would be last like I would pick steel over Lyle Collins like out of the four you named I would pick my L Collins last and he was the most talented But he was not the best right tackle that that's why talent doesn't always win some line so This is the this is like the Quarter of a decade team. I mean quarter of a century team and we're not looking at some games. We're looking at the overall totality He should have been better than all of them Should have been the left tackle but All right, and then the Before we move I remember this because he went to LSU but Lea Collins he went undrafted because there was like a Like somebody got murdered and he was supposed to be a witness to it and they they didn't know if he was involved Like it was like right before the draft. They had no idea it was involved in his girlfriend Yeah, somebody got murdered that he was dating or family member, too Yeah, and they didn't know if he was involved So he literally did not he was supposed to been a first-round tackle drafted, but you would have been first-round easy and he ended up getting not drafted and then Him and him him and Jerry did a handshake deal. Hey you signed with us We'll give you a big contract as soon as we can he was the first We're not letting you leave until you sign undrafted free agent. Yeah, he spent the night He spent the night with Imagine that that that Sleep over you got Jerry. Yeah, Steven you got Jason Garrett I remember Romo and Witten were there. Romo went in onesie, read him a bedtime story. Yeah. So those are our offensive linemen. I think amazing offensive line there. And then let's move on to our tight ends. This is going to be a no-brainer as well. But there are a couple other players for consideration. Jason Witten, obviously, was the man. Hall of Famer. But we also have to think about, I mean, Dalton Schultz was pretty good. Blake Jarwin was pretty good. Dalton Schultz is still good. Dalton Schultz is doing all right. I don't think he's going to be on the Texans after next year. They're not going to resign him. No, no, no, it's because he's fallen off. They signed that other tight end, and they drafted one. He makes like $15 million a year, and he doesn't produce for that type of salary. But then the other guy was, I don't know if you guys remember him, but LeFleur. He was supposed to be, he was a high draft pick too. He was, man. I think second round. Yeah. So, I mean, obviously, who are you going to choose out of those? So, Witten, stand aside. Who would you have chosen? Say Witten never existed. Who would you have chosen? I think it would have to be Dalton Schultz for this. I mean, there was some – he just had a longer stretch of success with us. Blake Jarwin was – I think Jarwin was more talented than him, but he couldn't get that. I don't know if it was his hamstring or whatever. I'm going with the GOAT, man. Rico Gathers, the preseason GOAT. Did you ever play the preseason GOAT? He hardly ever played in the game. But there was a couple other guys that I saw, and I was like, nah, tight ends. Maybe it was because they were just bigger names. He played so long, and Whitten just would not let. Because, man, what's the guy's name? The big guy he played for. I want to say Texas A&M. And he had a brother that played in the league. Martellus Bennett, him. He should have been very good because once he left, he turned out to be a very good tight end. But Witten just, he had no plans on helping younger players get better. Like he never wanted to get off the field. He never wanted to mentor young tight ends, stuff like that. Which, I mean, I don't blame him. I'm not saying it was a bad thing, but he played so long. That's why we don't have any second tight end that we have to be like, man, is he pushing Witten? Like, no, he just never got off the field. I think what I think what I don't know if you have any like documentation or any like things to what you're going to what you've said, but I've heard that a couple of times. Most of that comes from Des because Des was jealous of Romo and Witten's relationship. Des wouldn't lie. Des wouldn't lie to me. But Martellus Bennett was a head case. He was very talented and he couldn't get out. He can blame anybody he wants, but he couldn't get out from his own trouble. He should have been so good. And the only reason why I say that is because when he went to the Patriots, he was very good. He played for the Bears, I think, and he was very good there. He should have been good for us, too. I think that when you say good, I think you're saying mediocre because he was all right. He was all right. He was an excellent blocker. He was above. He was nothing. Never close to what Witten was. Witten was absolutely four times talented. But he had the talent. He just didn't get out of his own way. He was kind of like Lael Collins in that regard. Oh, 100%. That's a good comparison. Running back. Running back. Who we got? I think it's easy. I got two running backs positions. Zeke. We got Zeke. We got Murray. We got Barber. And we got Julius Jones on my list. The Marion the Barbarian. Man, I love to watch him play football. But I got to go Murray and Ezekiel Elliott. With Zeke being the top, like Murray was fun to watch. Yeah, pick two. Pick one. Pick one. No, I'm picking two. Like I already said, I picked two running backs for the team. Because most teams have two running backs. Pick one running back. One running back? Oh, it's Zeke for me. It's Zeke for me. Okay. Only because Murray had a smaller window of when he was good. Murray had like maybe two really good years. And then he was like ho-hum the rest of the time. Zeke had a stretch of like four to five years where he was like just, I would say four years where he was just like, man, literally one of the best running backs in the league. Oh, he did get drafted. overall or fourth overall. So he didn't need it to be. And Murray was a fourth. Zeke was, I think Zeke was definitely the better running back out of everybody. But if I was going to choose with my heart, it would have to be Mary and Barber. But Zeke was the, I'm only choosing him because just trying to do, be different than what we choose. Like you and I choose, if I can. But if they were standing in the lineup, I'd pick Zeke seven days a week. And then we got full. And then it was so fun to watch. Only because I got to see him live a couple times. And the one game, like one of my favorite games that I ever saw was Dallas Cowboys Cardinals game. Cowboys almost came back. They lost it. But Marion Barber, he caught a screen and went like 80 yards and got hit in the middle of the field and almost got knocked out. He was a monster. Monster. But fullback-wise, there's only a couple fullbacks because Cowboys don't always use a fullback, so there was just a couple that we could choose from. If you're not choosing the vanilla gorilla, then you have – We might as well log off. We're not friends anymore. you got uh robert thomas he was a badass robert thomas was good he really was what about the soccer polite i'm gonna choose richie anderson you know and the reason why is i was a fan of richie anderson at penn state i was a fan of him with uh at the jets i don't know why i was such a fan of him is because he was a fullback that could run the ball and Parcells got him the ball. And he always followed Parcells wherever he went. There was a guy we had at fullback that was like an offensive lineman, and we started playing him at fullback a little bit. Yeah, that was McGovern. McGovern, yeah. He's my fullback. He couldn't get to the second level as a guard. That was the problem. All right, so, and then the last day. Oh, no, no, no, no. We can go quarterback. We can go quarterback. We still haven't done wide receivers. Yeah, I know. I was going to say that was our last one because that was the bigger one. But let's just do quarterback real quick because that shouldn't be that big of a difference here. We got Romo. We got Dak. We got Quincy Carter. We got Drew Bledsoe. What about Troy Henson? I mean, there's a handful of people that we can throw in. Ryan Leaf. Ryan Leaf, man. The GOAT. I mean, we even had the fumble. before we say this all the haters all the haters out there that love to hate on Dak and who even dumb enough to hate on Romo y'all just do not know the pain we went through after Troy Aikman left Clint Sterner Ryan Lee Troy Henson the dying decaying corpse of Drew Bledsoe It got to a point where he became unplayable, but they did blitz him up the middle. Vinny Testaverde on his last legs. I used to call him Vinny Interceptiverde because he would get intercepted so much. Anthony Wright, which this guy was like a punt returner and just ran the ball every time. Randall Cunningham. He had old Randall Cunningham on him. We had a geriatric Randall Cunningham. So if you ever noticed that the people who were fans after the last Super Bowl are big fans of Dak and Romo, that's because why? Because we've seen the other side to be in, like, the Browns. Like, it was times when we would go into a game, and we would have no idea if we were going to win that game or not, regardless of the opponent. Like, now we're going against the Giants. We know, oh, we're going to beat the Giants. Back then, we had no idea if we were going to win that game or not. With camp cupcake and all that. It was three, five, and 11 seasons in a row. It was traumatic. Traumatic. So I'm going with Romo. You're going to run Romo? I'll go. I'm going with Romo. I would choose Romo because Romo is my favorite quarterback in the entire world. Me too, man. I'll choose Dak for this because I'll hit somebody with another person if they're talking about Dak. That's how I feel about him. He gets absolutely, tremendously, I don't want to say raped, but he gets absolutely torn down in the media for no reason. What I don't understand about the hate is they compare him against top five drafted quarterbacks, Herbert, like not top five, but first round drafted quarterbacks, Herbert and Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen and Matt Stafford. He was an afterthought fourth round. They tried everything not to draft him. Even if they do compare him, his stats are on par or better than them. It's like when people throw that shit in your face all the time and you're like, Dak almost won the MVP in 2023. He should have won that. If you look at the numbers, he should have won it he should have but and but there what what's the argument that you always get about that when you do when he when you talk about his success all we get is uh he's a regular season playoffs that's all it is when when you think about it it's the team falls apart but we'll get into that all the games yeah we can talk about that in another show but anyway but the reason i chose romo is because when his highs were high they were high when they were low like I don't know about you guys, but I'm like a fan fan. I go back and I got an NFL Plus subscription and I go back. You can go all the way back to 2011 and watch games. And I went and watched some of those games, the Romo games. Romo really was a lot of the sole causes of why we lost games. People want to blame Dak that he lost his game, but it was like, no, we gave up 250 yards rushing and that's why we lost. I would watch some of these games, and some of the throws that Romo made was so boneheaded. Like, what were you looking at, Romo? I'm telling you, and it's hard to remember now because he has so many highlights, but if you go back and watch the games, he had so many terrible throws, but in the same game, he would have four or five, holy crap, I can't believe he made that throw throw, and that's what made you forget about those. But you have to go back and watch the games. Romo's highs were high, but his lows were lower than Dak. Dak was more even keel in the middle. He was close to his highs, but he was – it's hardly ever a time you look back and be like, man, Dak single-handedly lost that game for us. Romo had some games like that. When I look back at stuff like that, I try to look at like the – sometimes I try to like look at the whole picture about what's actually happening at all time when those scenarios were happening. You look back at Romo's wide receivers and his supporting cast, nothing like what Dak has. Not even close to what Dak has. Later in his career, I'd say he did. But you're right. For the first three quarters of his career. Give me one receiver that was close to CD. Close to him. T.O. T.O. was ridiculous. T.O. played for one and a half years with us. I know, but I'm saying during that time, He was picking up CD numbers. I'm saying. But we're talking. It matched. But no. No. You can't do that, dude. You cannot do that. What I'm saying is there was Romo. What Romo gave us, Romo gave us a chance to win every single time. That was his. I think he still has the record for the number of comeback wins. And it was like in the 90s. So that was the thing about Romo. And, like, I'll scream from the rooftops about Romo. I would name my dog Romo. I live with an animal named Romo that I – I mean, he was my favorite quarterback by all times. People still don't want to come to me with, like, Troy Aikman this and Troy Aikman that. I'd take Romo 10 times over Troy Aikman. But the simple fact of it is, is he didn't have a CD and a Zeke behind him. But if he did have a T.O., he didn't have a tight end or running back. If he did have that tight end, he had Hurts and who are the other receivers? I mean, you're looking at numbers right now. tell you, T.O.'s best year with the Cowboys was 81 catches, 1,355 yards, and 15 touchdowns. 81 for almost 1,400. CeeDee Lamb's best year? It's even hard to say. 135 catches, 1,700 yards, and 12 touchdowns. But that's again, All he had was him, right? That's all he had. He'd drop back and he'd be like, where the hell is everybody? I can't run. My ankle, I broke my ankle last year. Where is everybody? Man, even last year without Dak, he had 101 catches for 1,200 yards. That's crazy. It's going to be crazy to think about this year, the step back in how many targets he gets is going to be crazy. So what about the wide receivers? What do we pick? All right, so the wide receivers, let's run these. I got a big list of these guys because we're going to have to choose from them. So choose. You can choose two of these guys. Okay, we got CeeDee. We got Amari Cooper. We got Michael Gallup. We got Des Bryant. We got Cole Beasley. We got Terrell Owens. We got Keyshawn Johnson. Just throw me the damn ball. Aaron Glenn Miles Austin and Joey Galloway I could have trimmed this list back but every single one of these guys was a huge production guy on our team I'm not saying they were the guy on our team they all mattered The only person who was supposed to be on that list that wasn't was Roy Williams. We traded two first round picks for him. But he didn't do shit for us. No, I know what I'm saying. The only person that's supposed to be on that list that wasn't because he didn't sub was Roy Williams. Absolutely. Who was our toe toucher? Terrence Williams? Is that who it was? No. Terry Glenn. no no no 83 for Romo oh yeah Terrence Williams was Terrence Williams he was pretty good but he was kind of like he was like Michael Gallup before Michael Gallup so let me read you Dez's best year Dez's best year with the Cowboys was 2014 that was the year when they had the best team in the league I think that was when DeMarco Murray went crazy He had 88 catches, 1,300 yards, and 16 touchdowns. That was a magical year. We should have won the Super Bowl that year. 2007 and 2014. You know what's crazy about that year? My whole life, my dad, well, I loved football because of my dad. He raised me to play football. But he loved the Green Bay Packers all my life, and he hated the Cowboys. Until the 2014 season, he called me up one day and he was like, Eddie, I don't know what it is about this Dallas Cowboy team, but I can't stop watching it. I love them. And like on Sundays, he would be texting me and we'd be calling each other and like he's watching the Cowboy games. It was freaking amazing. Like I had a partner and then the following year, my dad passed away. But it was such an amazing thing that I got to experience a whole season of Dallas Cowboys with my dad. And it was such an incredible season, too. And the fact that they lost to Green Bay that day. Oh, man. Oh, he was so good. Out of all the seasons I watched with my NFL Plus subscription, 2014 is my favorite. And my favorite game is the Seattle Seahawks game with the toe drag swag by Terrence Williams. and then DeMarco Murray running over. Boop. Yeah. Man, that was my favorite game to watch. Anyway, let's keep it going because we'll be here all day talking about this. How do your receivers see you're going to choose? Oh, I said Des Bryant and CeeDee Lamb. Excuse me. Okay, so I'm going to choose. I love CeeDee. I'm going to choose CeeDee, but I'm going to go with CeeDee, And I would choose Dez as well. But since you chose Dez, I'll go with Cole Beasley. Cole Beasley. That was my strongly considered. I had a strong considered T.O. and Cole Beasley. But for different reasons. How important they were. Cole Beasley was important to both Romo and Dak. T.O. was gone before Dak got there, so of course you can't compare it. But Dez was important to Romo and Dak as well. but uh to and cole those are my strongly considered but there's a city on my starters that's the offense right there i mean that's pretty strong offense i don't think uh yeah so we jump on to the defense let's go we can we can make this a little bit simple because some guys are named defensive ends and they're linebackers but they're not vice versa so whatever you choose what you want to choose so let's start with our dns um The ones that I chose for the list are DeMarco, sorry, D-Law. We got Spears. We got D-Ware, Randy Gregory. I put Micah as a D-end. Greg Ellis and Jason Hatcher. I don't know if you guys remember Jason Hatcher, but he was a BA as well. So out of those guys or who you want to throw in as a D-end, who did you choose? For my two DNs, I've picked D-Law and I've picked DeMarcus Ware. I put DeMarcus Ware as a DN. Okay. He's not a linebacker. When I think of linebackers and defensive ends, who has their hand on the ground? That guy's a defensive end. He's not a linebacker. And if you're making DeMarcus Ware stand up and play linebacker in coverage, then you need to stop eating what you're eating for breakfast. Okay, so out of those two you guys choose, I'm going to choose DeMarcus Ware and Micah because I feel like those guys were the two guys that got to the quarterback easiest. See, I got Micah down as a linebacker, so we'll get to that in a second. Okay. We'll go to that here. that he played a lot of linebacker snaps. Big shout out to Almost Anthony Spencer. We're jumping on linebackers. The defensive tackles that we have. We got Crawford. We got Osa. We got Malik Collins. Crawford is Tyrone too because we had two Crawfords. One was Jack Crawford. One was Tyrone Crawford. We're talking Tyrone Crawford We're not talking about the guy that played for one year from England with us. Jay Ratliff. Then we got Anton Woods and LeBroy Glover. So who were your favorite tackles? I went with Osa. He's still one of my favorites. And then I went with Jay Ratliff, seventh rounder, pro bowler, all pro. He showed up. And then he was always undersized. He was like a defensive end body, but he was so good at defensive tackle We're Jason Hatcher and I forgot the guy's name Irving whatever his first name was David Irving David Irving like that guy man Yeah If he wasn't just a one-hit wonder. Yeah, he was a head case like he just like some days I don't want to play football today I want to get in a fight in the very beginning of the game and get kicked out. I'm going to choose Anton Woods and Osa. With a strong consideration of Malik Collins was a badass. I like Malik Collins. But I like Jason Hatcher when he played a defensive tackle. He was my third person. We've had some good defensive tackles. and then uh no extremely big guys i mean good guys but a lot of good solid or above average players we had absolutely linebackers i went over you gotta read them read them uh scott fazita brady james we got anthony spencer we got dat when zach thomas sean lee anthony hitchens Leighton Vander Esch Dexter Coakley Bruce Carter and Jalen Smith man those are some good names we've got linebackers on our team the one that had the one good year with us and he played in 2014 he came out of retirement Rolando McClain that one year if he was the one crazy man he would have been he was like like how we call Tyron Smith, the prototypical built-in-the-lab left tackle, Rolando McClain was a built-in-the-lab middle linebacker. McClain was the guy that I always wanted on the team, and we got him. I was so excited. Another guy that I always wanted on the team that we never got was Vontaze Burfecht. I would have loved to have Burfecht, man. He's the one that gave your boy Antonio Brown, CTE. He's the reason why he's crazy right now. So my three I picked was I picked Micah so I can get him in linebackers. He was drafted as a linebacker. So in my heart, he's a linebacker. I don't care what Eddie says. Brady James and Sean Lee. Those are my three. And my strong consideration was Leighton Van Der Esch. When he was on, he was on. If he wasn't hurt, he was great. So the guys that I'm going to pick are going to be real linebackers that can make plays from the linebacker position. Just kidding. I'm going to go with – you can't not say Dattwin if you're talking about linebackers with Cowboys. I wanted to too, man. I'm going to pick Dattwin. I'm going to pick Dexter Coakley. And I'm going to pick Jalen Smith. And I'm not going to look back because those three guys right there – I wanted to pick Dattwin, but not because he wasn't good, but because the three I picked were better than him. That's the only reason why I didn't pick that one. He was very good. It's hard to say. It's hard to look at and say somebody's better than him at those positions because situations were different. Defenses were different. He was playing a Bill Parcells. Bill Parcells didn't like little linebackers. He didn't like small linebackers. But he couldn't get them off the field. That's how much he hated the fact that he had to play him. He kept making tackles. the reason why I love him is his story he was a Vietnamese he grew up in a camp in Texas and like a legit concentration camp on American soil that was insane but to think about that name one other Vietnamese player in the NFL you know of you can't think of one but he was legit good you wouldn't notice it but by the third quarter you'd hear Pat Summerall or John Madden that man, he has 11 tackles. You're like, man, how's he doing this? It was the same thing with Dexter Coakley. Yeah, same thing. He hated how small he was and he couldn't get him off the field because he was the best player on that team. He just makes tackles, yeah. I don't know if you ever saw the movie Moneyball with Brad Pitt. He would try to The guys How to pick players he was like you want this player like what he sucks he can't do like he pointed to the guys like He gets on base He's like Point to him again. He gets on gets on base and that's how that win and Dexter Coakley was they just made tackles they tackled and then when like Two-yard gains when they tackle him stayed two-yard gains They didn't break out and get an extra two three yards to turn into a four or five yard game They tell them they'll get tackled there One of the best college defenses ever was that Texas A&M defense that year that was crazy He played and I mean some of the linebackers that were on that team were outshadowed him because they were huge but That was the one that was making plays everywhere and that we wouldn't have been able to go anywhere without it that was such a very special team okay so moving on uh to from linebackers let's move on to our safeties now safeties with dallas the way that they they play them is um i don't care if you choose two strong safeties two free safeties because we um some teams switch them right like if you're a free safety those swiss sides dallas doesn't do that they play sides of the field most of the time i don't know what he's going to do but so the safeties that i chose to be on this list uh obviously george teague i put sean marion this is sean it's not sean brock marion rock brock i shouldn't have put brock marion because he did he was a super bowl winner so let's not talk about him so let's go with george teague we got uh xavier woods we got it's pretty good go the goat the goat heath jeff heath jeff heath then we got barry church and roy williams now there was other safeties that i could have thrown in here but i mean none of them played as much as they did or were part of the the success of the team as much when i was looking at I would honestly say by far, this is the one position it seems like Dallas just does not give an F about. They just like whatever safeties we can get. They don't seem to invest high draft picks in them, except Roy Williams maybe. Yeah, Roy Williams. And they don't go after high coveted safety. And then it's been across different coaching styles. So it's not like it's been the same coach. just like different cultures and they never seem to care enough to go after top notch safeties. I don't know if it was, I don't know if, if they're, if Jerry got jaded, because I remember one year Cowboys, they traded up and they, they drafted a safety. Actually two years. Do they did this? The first one was a safety from Florida state and he was the tallest safety that ever played in the NFL. Yeah. I remember him. They traded up to get him, and he ended up being nothing. So I don't know if that kind of jaded him on that. But then they also did the same thing with J.J. Wilcox. Oh, yeah. But he was a quarterback. That never made sense to me. He was a running back. He was a running back in college. He was a running back. And he was in, like, Division. He wasn't even Division II. He was, like, a Division III. It was weird. Some real NACIS. And then they brought him over, and he was starting safety with no experience in the NFL. He could hit so hard. He could hit so hard. But he couldn't cover. Anyway, my two was Roy Williams and Barry Church. Those are the two. Okay. I was teasing Prescott about this when we were chatting about this because those guys are – I feel like those guys were the linebacker-ish safeties that we ever had. So we would stop and run with those guys, but they ain't going to cover. They can hit. I want first three years Roy Williams. I'm going to choose George Teague because he protected the star, and I'll always love him for that. I'll always have a place in my heart. And I'll go with Roy Williams because of that hit against Texas in college. Oh, yeah. But Jeff Heath will always have a soft spot in my heart. The GOAT. Especially when they were playing the Raiders, And he knocked that out, and he felt so bad about it. Like, my heart felt for him at that time. He would have been cemented as the goat if he just could have made Aaron Rodgers fumble in the playoffs on that sack. He sacked him, and he made it third and 28, and he hit him so hard, but Aaron Rodgers just held on to that ball. And then the next play was when he did the third and 28 pass to the tight end. If he would have made him fumble, that would have been the game, and he would have been cemented as the GOAT for real. I almost put one guy on here, and I took him off because I was mad at him. Maybe you could tell me why. You guys remember who Gerald Sensabaugh is? Ah, Gerald Sensabaugh. So I almost threw him on here, and the only reason I didn't was because I want to punch him right in his fucking face because he was the one that made the fingertip tackle on Romo when he dropped the snap on the field goal. Romo almost got it out of there, and Sensabaugh's finger touched his foot and he fell down. I'm like, ah. Ah, man. Why? Okay, so then the last two are the cornerbacks. Name us some cornerbacks. Name us some DBs. My favorite? My favorite by far. it's jordan lewis jordan lewis uh we got uh we got digs we got car i don't know if you guys all remember car car we got we got trade up clayborne we got byron jones we got bland we got anthony Burnt Toast Brown. He got Orlando. Every time I hear the Weed On Boys, all I hear is Skandrick because he was the one that brought it to the Cowboys. Orlando Skandrick and then Terrence Newman. If you don't know nothing about Terrence Newman, you guys need to get on the DallasCowboy.com. He was the closest thing we had to Deion since Deion left. He was somebody that could shut somebody down and he could get intercepted. We always had one or the other where I'll preface by saying my two were Terrence Newman and Byron Jones. Byron Jones could shut you down. He could not get an interception to save his life. As opposed to Bland right now, Bland gets a lot of interceptions but he doesn't really shut people down. He'll give up a lot of yards but he'll get a good interception or a touch you know, pick six that redeems himself. Like, case in point, last year against Seattle, DK Metcalf was tearing him all game. He was just tearing him up. But then in the third quarter, he had a big interception that made you forget the six catches for 120 yards he gave up in the first half. Terrence Newman could do both, and that's why he's my favorite, and then Byron Jones did. And my strong consideration, close third, was Orlando Skandrick. He was just a straight dog. Him and Jordan Lewis had that same dog mentality, and they don't give up. They might give up a catch, but fourth quarter, they're still battling. All right, so I'm going to choose Diggs because Diggs is a ball hawk. He's the kind of corner that I like because he's a receiver and he runs the routes with the receivers. And then, I mean, I have a hard time not saying Bland. but I want to pick Terrence Newman because Terrence Newman has been, he, he was the quintessential cornerback for a while. And we were always trying to fill a spot next to him. Right. We found Byron Jones, but before then it was like a, just a cornerback, just coming in and trying to find somebody that would stay there. So those two right there, I think would, would give us. If Diggs can stay healthy, he can be a Terrence Newman or a Deion Sanders, someone that can shut you down and get interceptions. The problem with him is that he can't cover a receiver going across the field for some reason. Yeah, for some reason, and I don't know why because he's very fast. It's just like he's always two yards behind. He's a runner-crosser. He's always behind. I think he relies on his skill too much. He thinks, oh, I can do this, bait him, and then when he gets ready to throw, speed up and catch it. but it just doesn't work. Dion was the first guy to bait quarterbacks. Bait quarterbacks. They would stop throwing it. They fell for it. So let's go. We're almost finished. We're almost finished. We're almost there. Thanks for sticking with us. Thanks for sticking with us. These guys are on board, hopefully. Then we got Kicker. We got Aubrey. We got Bailey. And we got Maher. Out of those three, who would you pick? Man, this was the closest one I've had out of all these positions. But I gave it to Dan Bailey only because he did it longer. Like, I like Aubrey better, but he's only done it two years. Let's see him do it six, seven. Even Nick Folk, to me, is above Aubrey right now. You didn't say his name, but Nick Folk. Like, when you look at the longevity of his career, spanning from Cowboys to Nick Folk is still kicking in the league right now. He got drafted in like 2005, something like that. And he's still kicking in the league. But I picked Dan Bailey because he was, I'm talking about money. Like it was a time when, I don't know if y'all remember, if you're like, oh, Dallas charges out the field goal unit, you could leave and go get a snack. You can go to the bathroom. You can do whatever you want because you knew when you came back, three points was going to be on the board. I get that. and I would have picked Dan Bailey. Dan Bailey's pretty good. But the last two years, what you just mentioned, is that that's how we feel about the last two years with Aubrey. It is. He has a miss. It's so refreshing. It's so refreshing. It was just the only, like when he did miss it, it meant a lot. It's like they're making him kick the 59-yard field. His first miss was in the playoffs. It was crazy. It didn't matter. Like it didn't cost us the game, but it's like he was hitting everything from yeah He can kick from like for him 40 to 62 is like a month for 72 Didn't we we line them up for seven to this year? Yeah, cuz he's gonna break the record and then they got a penalty and they wouldn't let him do it Make it one time though. He did make it one time but our own coach froze him out and he Broke the record, but then he missed the next one But he did like the 71 yarder, right? He kicked a really really long look Okay, I think he's going in in a preseason as well like a 64 yard in the preseason But it doesn't count to other records and then a punter He got anger Chris Jones and there was another guy that that you had mentioned McBriar Australian coffin corner kicker I choose Anger just because Anger is just so consistent. He's been with us for such a long time that that's who I would choose. I choose the Punisher. I choose the Punisher, Chris Jones. And then Kick Returner. I had Turpin. I had Lucky Whitehead. And who was the other guy, Harris? What was his first name? Dwayne. Dwayne Harris. Dwayne Harris. So out of those guys, who would you want returning your balls? Who would you want holding your balls on the kickoff? I would say Turpin. Only because he, to me, he literally, he's like Dion back there with punts. He literally strikes fear into the other team's heart when they see him back there like, Man, we cannot kick to this guy. He made the Pro Bowl, and he didn't even return a kick for a touchdown. Man, that's how good he was. Shit, it's rookie year. He almost scored like six touchdowns. Almost. He got tripped up a few times. That was funny. That was funny. But, yeah, that's it, ladies and gentlemen. That is the all we haven't done shit since Super Bowl Dallas Cowboy team. We had this team in the Super Bowls every year. If you had any other players on your list or that we didn't talk about, please let us know because we did. I mean, we'll argue with you until you're wrong, but you still can let us know. Yeah, and then we'll get Prescott some internet so he can actually do some research instead of just come up with his feelings. Man, if he catch y'all, man. I know what I'm talking about. He does. I know what I'm talking about. It teaches me a lot of shit. Thanks for joining us. We're almost at an hour. We need to cut this off. People stop listening to us. We're too long. They're probably waiting for another hour after this. Yeah. Anyway, thanks for tuning in, Eddie. Say goodbye to the people so we can go eat some dinner. You know it. We'll miss you until next week. Give your kids a good night. Tell them you love them because you might not be able to. And you know how it is. Tell them what the end is. Y'all have fun in a... I'm home.
